Project Engineering Manager (Gas Power)
TAIWAN
Job description
Job Description
Job Description Summary
Taiwan's energy landscape is evolving — and GE Vernova is at the centre of it. As a Senior Project Engineering Manager, you will be the technical backbone of our engineering delivery team in Taiwan, leading a group of engineers to deliver complex power plant projects on time, on cost, and to the highest quality standards. You will be the single point of contact for customers on all technical matters, the person who sets engineering strategy, and the leader who brings a team together to solve hard problems with clarity and purpose.
This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical expertise and sharp commercial thinking — someone who can pivot from resolving a critical design challenge to managing a customer conversation without missing a beat.
Job Description
What You'll Do
· Lead and develop a team of engineers day-to-day , setting the pace for delivery, driving a culture of continuous improvement, lessons learned, and root cause analysis (RCA), and ensuring engineering schedules are met with quality.
· Own engineering execution strategy for your project portfolio — defining design review milestones, freeze points, and tollgate disciplines — while maintaining budget accountability and providing quarterly financial estimates.
· Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers , leading and attending meetings with customer, partner, and owner representatives to resolve technical challenges with ownership and confidence.
· Ensure full contractual compliance across all engineering deliverables , manage the Management of Change (MOC) process for design changes, and work with the Project Management team to secure customer change orders for out-of-scope work.
· Drive engineering productivity through lean process improvements , resource optimization across your assigned portfolio, and harmonization of tools, processes, and technical specifications.
· Collaborate closely with manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, and installation teams to ensure equipment meets all customer requirements and business objectives, while upholding GE Vernova's standards of integrity, safety, and transparency.
Who You Are
You are a technically grounded engineering leader with significant experience delivering complex power plant projects in international environments, who brings both strategic vision and hands-on execution capability.
Required
· A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent — a formal qualification is advantageous, but we are most interested in your total experience and what you have delivered.
· Significant experience in engineering and/or project management within the power plant industry, in international or cross-functional project environments.
· Strong knowledge of power plant principles, processes, and system interfaces in complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environments.
· Proven ability to manage engineering budgets, schedules, and resources across a portfolio of concurrent projects.
· Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and coordinating across multidisciplinary, global stakeholder groups.
· Flexibility to travel to project site, customer office as and when required and overseas business travel occasionally.
Preferred
· Familiarity with GE Vernova core technologies and product lines.
· Experience managing commercial change processes and customer-facing technical negotiations.
· Demonstrated ability to drive standardization, lean processes, and continuous improvement in engineering delivery environments
· Ability to speak Chinese language is advantageous
