Job Description Summary
The Performance Technical Leader within GP Service ISD Engineering Organization will provide technical direction for the Performance teams globally across GE SP Services. The teams are responsible for the preparation of technical design proposals for steam turbine upgrade and retrofit projects. This shall include thermodynamic steam path design and steam power plant thermodynamic cycle modelling, with necessary supporting documentation and risk assessment to determine performance guarantees.

Roles and Responsibilities

Demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives in the field of Performance Engineering. Integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization. Involved in long-term planning. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within Performance Engineering.
· Introduce solutions for thermodynamic designs and specifications of steam path designs for turbine upgrade and retrofit projects in support of tender proposals and contract execution.
· Steam power plant thermal cycle modelling (tendering and contract execution).
· Perform thermal performance risk assessment and establish performance guarantees.
· Analysis of customer specifications (RFQs) and plant operational data to ensure compliance and/or appropriate exception in Tender proposals.
· Analysis of site performance test data.
· Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
· Attendance and presentation at internal and external design meetings in support of tender preparation and contract execution.
· Technical support of customer’s thermodynamic queries / problems / issues
Qualifications / Requirements
· A minimum of 5 years working in a related technical / engineering discipline. Direct experience of thermal steampath design in turbomachinery or thermal modelling of steam/water cycles is required.
· MEng / BEng (or equivalent).
Desired Characteristics
· A deep understanding of thermodynamics principles, steam power plant thermal cycles and thermodynamic design of steam turbines.
· Extensive experience of modelling and interpretation of heat balance diagrams and preparation of steam turbine retrofit steampath designs.
· A good product knowledge of all GE Steam Turbines.
· Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art in the field of Performance Engineering, along with the ability to teach and set standard practices;
· Strong communication and presentation skills – experience successfully communicating with senior executives, both verbally and in writing;
· A positive attitude with high levels of self-motivation;
· Flexibility to travel to other locations in the GE network and to customer premises.
