As an Entry-Level Automation & Industrial Control Systems Engineer, you will be an integral part of our team, working on cutting-edge projects that power the world. You will gain hands-on experience in programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) that drive our advanced power conversion technologies, designing intuitive Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and implementing robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard our critical infrastructure. This role offers a unique blend of programming, design, and security responsibilities within the dynamic energy sector.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
· Assist in the development, testing, and deployment of PLC logic using industry-standard languages such as ladder diagrams and function block diagrams, contributing to the control and optimization of our power conversion systems.
· Participate in the design and configuration of user-friendly and informative HMI/SCADA interfaces that provide operators with real-time visibility and control over critical processes.
· Learn and implement cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems, including network segmentation, access controls, and the secure configuration of controllers and network switches, ensuring the integrity and reliability of our operations.
· Support the configuration and maintenance of industrial network switches and communication protocols that underpin our control systems.
· Collaborate in the integration of diverse industrial control system components within GE Vernova's power conversion solutions.
· Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges related to PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and network connectivity in a fast-paced industrial environment.
· Contribute to the creation and maintenance of comprehensive system documentation.
· Work effectively within cross-functional teams, including experienced engineers and other technical specialists at GE Vernova..
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
· Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%.
Desired Characteristics

· A strong grasp of fundamental programming principles.
· Understanding of network concepts and protocols.
· A genuine interest in industrial control systems, automation technologies, and the critical importance of cybersecurity within the energy industry.
· Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
· A proactive, self-motivated approach with a strong desire to learn and contribute to the innovative work at GE Vernova Power Conversion.
· Any exposure to PLC programming or industrial automation concepts through academic projects or personal exploration.
· Familiarity with HMI/SCADA software platforms.
· Knowledge of industrial communication protocols relevant to power conversion applications (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
· Awareness of security standards and best practices for industrial control systems within the energy sector (e.g., NERC CIP).
