Role Summary/Purpose

Welding Engineer having welding related experience in a construction, fabrication or repair facility. Strong knowledge on working with ASME SEC IX Welding Code, ASME SEC I & ASME SEC VIII Div.1 Design and Fabrication Codes, ASME IIC Code and IBR. Understanding of Company's /Similar boiler design standards strongly preferred.
Essential Responsibilities

1. Shall be committed to Company’s Safety and other Statutory Policies.

2. At the Tendering Stage, review Project Specifications, Engineering Design / Drawings, Bill of Materials to analyse Manufacturing feasibility from Welding point of view, develop Welding Process Planning, evaluate need for developing new Welding Procedures and estimate Welding Consumables cost.

3. Development and Qualification of new WPS/PQR’s to meet Customer, Company’s Design Standards & Code requirements.

4. Maintainance of WPS/PQR Master Data.

5. Preparation of Purchase Requisitions for ordering of Welding Consumables as per Project Schedule and Inspection of the same upon receipt.

6. Conduct required Tests and prepare Test Reports for approval of new Consumable Brands.

7. Preparation and release of Shop Welding Plans, Heat Treatment Instructions to Manufacturing, as per Project Schedule.

8. Monitoring of shop welding activities in conformance with specified welding instructions.

9. Understanding of weld defects, conducting repair analysis and failure investigations.

10. Assist in Engineering, Quality, Project Management and Tendering functions on resolving any technical matters related to Welding and Fabricability requirements for Projects.
Qualifications/Requirements

Welding Engineer with 3-8 years of welding related experience in a construction, fabrication or repair facility with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering ?Metallurgical Engineering or a Master’s Degree in Welding Engineering / Welding Technology
Desired Characteristics

1. Effective written and verbal communication skills.

2. Good PC-based application skills such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).

3. Knowledge and practical experience of welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, FCAW and SAW.

4. Welding and heat treatment knowledge of carbon steels, low alloy steels, stainless steels.

5. Acquaintance with Quality Systems.

6. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Shall also be Result oriented; team and customer orientation; time management; flexible; detail oriented.
