Job Description
Job Description Summary
We are seeking a technically strong and improvement-focused professional to support the manufacturability and continuous enhancement of HVDC Transformers. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering design and manufacturing, helping ensure products are not only technically robust, but also practical, efficient, and cost-effective to build.
The position will focus on reviewing and improving transformer designs for manufacturability, supporting the development of tools, jigs, and fixtures, and partnering closely with manufacturing process engineers to strengthen production methods, documentation, and process performance. You will play an important role in improving existing products and components while contributing to initiatives that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
This role has a strong execution focus and meaningful impact on departmental operations. While it follows established engineering practices and procedures, it also offers the opportunity to apply sound judgment, collaborate across functions, and contribute to continuous improvement in a highly specialized manufacturing environment.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will review transformer designs — including core, windings, winding assembly, active part, tanking, and final assembly — to ensure they are optimized for manufacturability. Using 3D and 2D design tools such as Inventor and AutoCAD , you will assess compatibility between product design and plant capabilities, identifying practical improvements that simplify production and improve efficiency.
You will work closely with design engineers, manufacturing process engineers, production teams, procurement, quality, and external vendors to align design intent with manufacturing reality. This includes supporting design-for-manufacturing improvements, resolving shop floor challenges, and identifying opportunities to reduce complexity, cost, and cycle time.
The role also includes designing and developing jigs, fixtures, molds, dies, and other customized tools that improve ease of manufacturing and operational performance. In addition, you will help create and maintain critical manufacturing documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WI), and CTQs , while contributing to structured improvement methods such as DFMEA and PFMEA .
Education and Experience
We are looking for candidates who bring a strong mix of engineering knowledge, manufacturing understanding, and practical problem-solving capability. Ideal qualifications include:
· Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering , or equivalent hands-on experience in design and manufacturing within power transformers
· Strong experience working with 3D and 2D design tools , such as Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent platforms
· Familiarity with document management systems such as Windchill or similar tools
· Good understanding of transformer design principles
· Good knowledge of the power transformer manufacturing process
· Experience in an industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering environment
· Ability to bridge design requirements and production realities to improve manufacturability
· Experience supporting tooling, process optimization, and design improvement initiatives
· Comfortable working cross-functionally with design, quality, procurement, and production teams
