Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Design Engineer - Genset Mechanical supports the Waukesha Engineering group in a design capacity. You will work on projects of moderate complexity to meet the intent and intended purpose of new product development and existing product support. In this position you will utilize your engineering design skills, CAD experience, and GE's quality system procedures to support the engineering group.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Lead Design Engineer - Genset Mechanical, you will:
· Create new product designs and product assemblies, and solve design-related problems
· Work with customers, applications, & Product Line Management to identify custom order requirements, provide engineering data for quotes, provide custom order project timelines and complete custom sales order design activities within agreed timeline
· Use expertise in engineering / design / reciprocating engines / Gensets to help resolve urgent issues with current products
· Collaborate with global engineering team on projects, knowledge sharing, training, tools, procedures, and best practice.
· Procure prototype hardware for design verification, product release, and trouble-shooting production and field service type problems
· Develop technical requirements and quality standards while working closely with technical and cross-functional personnel
· Perform engineering studies and calculations within the scope of assigned work
· Participate in project teams as a Genset design leader and complete all Genset design tasks required to release the product to schedule
· Participate in project teams for technical design reviews
· Ensure all required business system transactions associated with ECO releases are completed as required
· Provide technical support to other functional areas as required
· Lead a cross functional team as required
· Participate in and assist with the creation and development of quality documents
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics
· Demonstrated proficiency utilizing mechanical engineering skills to analyze technical requirements and applying appropriate skill set to design and detail complex components and assemblies within Pro / E or other similar solid modeling CAD software
· Industrial engine, generator set, or switch-gear design background with experience designing large castings, forgings, fabrications, sheet metal components, piping, electrical harnesses, and electrical schematics.
· Proficiency in managing technical and organizational assignments
· Ability to perform engineering calculations and apply GD&T per ASME Y-14.5M
· Demonstrated problem solving skills
· Organizational skills required to effectively handle multiple tasks
· Communication & Interpersonal skills required to function effectively with engineering and inter-department team
· Oracle/SAP Business system experience.
· Experience with Pro / Intralink or PDMLINK / Windchill or other CAD file management system
· Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills
· Embrace continuous improvement and have a strong desire to learn
· Experience reading circuit schematics and wiring diagrams
· Demonstrated proficiency utilizing engineering skills to analyze technical requirements and applying appropriate skill set to design and detail system schematics within AutoCAD, EPLAN, or other similar 2D CAD software
· Detail orientated

Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering role working with reciprocating engines and/or reciprocating engine Gensets ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time, as required
