Job Description Summary
The In-Vessel UT (IVUT) Field Engineer provides technical direction and oversight of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities on nuclear power plant inspection projects, as part of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Inspection team, supporting customer nuclear power plants around the world during customers refueling outages. The ISI team focuses on inspections outside of the reactor vessel and piping and components critical to safe operation using NDE methods.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
· Responsible to support planning of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) project schedule and delivery and provide task leadership, technical direction, work coordination and supervision of work teams composed of GVH and contingent worker personnel.
· Communicate with customers and supervise of up to 15 contractors and co-workers.
· Prepare automated tooling and equipment prior to nuclear power plant outage inspections.
· Perform In-Vessel UT inspection activities at nuclear customer sites.
· Evaluating and documenting performance issues at inspections and working in the off season to improve the tooling and procedures to correct the issues identified.
· Participate in the development of new NDE techniques and tooling improvements.
· Support business activities including inspection tooling and technique development, Commercial Operations and Planning & Staffing and Training.
· Perform duties and complete assignments while maintaining GVH standards for integrity, safety and quality.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field from accredited college or university
· OR High school diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience in Non-Destructive Evaluation /Inspections in the Nuclear Industry
Eligibility Requirements
· Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% to domestically and internationally plant sites.
· Preferred work location is our headquarters in Wilmington NC but for highly qualified candidates this role may be remote eligible. (Relocation assistance provided)
· This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to climb 10 flights of stairs twice per day.
· Ability to pass respirator fit test and physical.
· Ability to pass Fitness for Duty requirements and site security requirements to obtain unescorted access.
· Ability to work under high stress conditions.
· Ability and willingness to work in radiation-controlled and radioactively contaminated areas.
· Ability and willingness to work 12 hrs./day and 7 days/week when needed for project delivery.
Desired Characteristics
· Experience designing, operating, and maintaining automated or robotic tooling.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and experience performing mechanical repairs and maintenance.
· Demonstrated leadership of field teams working at customer sites
· Knowledge of GVH products, processes, customers, markets and competition
· Familiarity with RFF activities, primarily NDE automated inspections.
· Strong Communication Skills and Customer Centric Attitude
· Proven leadership capabilities with ability to motivate others and achieve results.
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
· Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
· Established project management skills.
The base pay range for this position is $72,000 to $95,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on October 3rd.
The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
