Role Summary/Purpose
The Regional Commodity Leader for Small Parts & Raw Materials groups will function as a regional sourcing expert for the Gas Power business to increase China/Asia Pacific region spend for the commodity, drive margin expansion and maximize cash benefit for the business.
Essential Responsibilities
Key measure of success will be: 1) volume of spend transferred to region; 2) savings (on total landed cost bases); and 3) cash (Accounts payable days to pay extension). In addition the role will act as a Commodity Leader for Electronics commodity for the Gas Power Business.
The person will be partnering with the Global Commodity Leaders (GCL) in the Small Parts & Raw Materials Team, Commodity Site Leaders (CSLs) Sourcing Quality Engineers (SQE), Design and Material Process Engineers (as applicable). As a Regional Commodity Leader:
• Identify and develop suppliers to increase region spend by collaborating with GCLs
• Identify supplier capabilities for product families
• Define spend entitlement for the commodity in region and own execution towards that entitlement
• Own the evaluation and selection of new suppliers, development of existing suppliers, and overall supplier management in region for the commodity
• Act as regional supplier account manager and collaborate with SSLs to manage supply agreements, conducting e-auctions & competitive bidding
• Own project execution / ramp-up and work as the over-all program lead to ensure seamless transition of spend from quality and fulfillment perspective
• Lead strategic product qualification project planning and timely execution via coordinating and leveraging cross functional resources in sourcing quality and engineering
• Work with the supplier to ensure the best lowest lead time, On time delivery and total landed cost compared to other BCC regional suppliers.
• Ensure YOY productivity deflation, highest Days to Pay and best in class fulfillment on every project from the region
• Collaborate with supporting resources (engineering, quality, global supply chain, and regional teams) to achieve BCC operating plan
• Lead and drive strategic initiatives on days to pay improvement, supplier rationalization, Sole source reduction, Fulfilment improvement, COF recovery & QMS compliance.
As a Commodity Leader for Electronics:
• Understand overall Electronics component commodity supplier base and set up sourcing strategy
• Tracking component supplier cost/performance to support the year end cost reduction proposal
• Work closely with OEMs on all the NPI projects volume tracking, prepare volume forecast on critical component to prepare Polydyne negotiation
• Work with global Electronics team to share the market intelligence information and set up cost saving targets by supplier with volume shares in global Polydyne negotiation
• Provide cost analysis and set up negotiation strategy to align with total GE Power volume, lead the pre-negotiations and final negotiations on Gas Power total volume in Polydyne negotiation sessions
• Drive final price cut-ins with OEMs, and negotiate final pricing annually with OEMs, including electronics component (GE owned) and non-electronic component (OEMs owned) cost out
• Identify and qualify new suppliers; act in accordance with GE Integrity and Sourcing policy
• Proactively monitors risks, own escalations, mitigation and initiatives necessary for corrective actions
• Leads the evaluation process for business related commodity and suppliers for business or region
• Prepare, present, and influence senior leaders on current and future sourcing imperatives

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university (Engineering)
• Minimum 3 years of industry experience with exposure to sourcing/global supply chain function
• Experience in working with Power projects in a global environment
• Expertise in sourcing and negotiation skills
