Role Summary/Purpose
The Engineer- Product Definition operates as a team member and is responsible for crafting definition of basic aviation hardware to support team deliverables and customer needs. In this role you will collaborate with your direct team members and other engineering customers to create 2D and 3D definitions of aviation designs while building overall design skills in a digital environment
Essential Responsibilities
In addition, as the Engineer - PDE, you will :
· Create 2D and/or 3D definitions for jet engine parts in the form of 2D cross sections, 2D drawings and 3D models in a linked model environment
· Perform basic stack ups
· Support integration with Supply Chain by assisting team to determine dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances and fits while maximizing manufacturing producibility
· Perform basic interface analysis
· Provide digital engine part position files and support up to date digital engine builds
· Work inclusively within global team environment
· Tag model and definition files based on jurisdiction and exportability classifications
· Adhere to and work with guidelines of GE Policies & Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Procedures and Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security
· Drive continual self-development in functional area and stay current with industry developments in field of expertise
· Adherence to Government security requirements and those pertaining to the special access environment
· Deliver multiple priorities
· Aware and use core package of PDE eTools
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 2 co-op rotations / minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering, IT, scientific or other technical position, OR a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering, IT, scientific or other technical position)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :
· Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
Desired Characteristics
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Strong interpersonal, leadership potential and a positive energy
· Basic knowledge of computer aided design (CAD), preferably in Siemens NX
· Basic understanding of computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and manufacturing processes
· Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies (ANSI Y14.5)
· Effective problem identification and solution skills
· Minimum of 2 years in a product definition role
