Systems Engineering is a cross-functional discipline that emphasizes an integrated approach, mindset, and process. In this role, you will balance business and technical needs to help deliver high-quality products that meet cost targets. As a Systems Engineer specializing in part cost optimization within the Chief Engineering Office, you will lead cost reduction activities for parts and components owned by GE Avio Engineering, with a particular focus on NPI (New Product Introduction) and Military programs. This role offers limited autonomy and focuses on execution within an established operating strategy, in close collaboration with a wide cross-functional team.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities

Act as the Engineering Cost Specialist, guiding a cross-functional team through the cost-out strategy defined for the programs, in continuous dialogue with the Engineering Cost Leader and Design Teams
·
Perform Engineering Cost estimations through drawing benchmarking and derivative analysis, and evaluate the impact on Productivity
·
Review and update cost-out project status for assigned modules, and direct all engineering concurrence requests to the dedicated HWOs
·
Apply Design Practices (DP) and support the preparation of Design Reviews (DRs), ensuring compliance with the Engineering Handbook, providing cost data and checklists to Design Teams
·
Work within the Cost Team to perform internal checks, enhance Cost Dashboards, standardize cost data across multiple engine programs, and maintain a reliable Cost Monitoring Tool
·
Re-evaluate drawing requirements with the Design Team to generate new ideas for Cost and Productivity optimization
·
Promote the use of LEAN tools, actively participate in Kaizen Events and GEMBAs, and apply GE Aerospace FLIGHT DECK principles
·
Develop in-depth understanding of how your team’s work integrates with other teams and contributes to Department goals
·
Use judgment and analytical thinking to solve problems and propose solutions outside of set parameters, with guidance
·
Operate as an individual contributor with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude
Qualifications/Requirements
·
Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college
·
Previous experience in Engineering/Technology roles
·
Experience with Cost Estimations and standard manufacturing processes
·
Good knowledge of Product Cost and cost methodologies
·
Good knowledge of technical drawings, producibility impacts, productivity rules, key drivers and Lean tools
·
Strong technical skills and ability to work effectively in a team
·
Fluency in English and Italian
·
Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required
