Role Summary/Purpose

The Composites Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing quality performance for assigned Aviation Engines Composites raw material & hardware suppliers. Tracks metrics & works quality improvement plans to address problem areas. Review & approve quality plans. Investigate quality escapes to provide root cause analysis & ensures effective corrective actions are taken. Mentor suppliers in the application of quality tools & requirements. Provide onsite support at suppliers, as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence 
·  Works with allocated key suppliers to improve Quality and Delivery metrics to target levels 
·  Serves as Subject Matter Expert within Sourcing CCC (Buyer, Contract Administrator, and SQE) for GE Aviation Quality System Requirements
·  Oversees and approves supplier completion of quality system requirements and ensures compliance for product release (e.g., FAI, Source Substantiation, etc.) 
·  Leads supplier investigations, develops corrective actions, validates effective implementation for quality concerns / issues / escapes, and presents results to reviewing authorities 
·  Owns supplier improvement plans related to nonconformances (MRB & QEM) and drives reductions through manufacturing improvements and engineering design changes 
·  Uses data analytics to identify risks and opportunities for quality improvement and escape prevention 
·  Provides onsite support at suppliers, as needed
·  Completes Predictive Quality Assessments for all assigned suppliers within 24 months 
·  Attains MRB Chairperson designation within first 12 months 
·  Develops, documents, and executes Quality Improvement Plans that achieve annual targets for nonconformances, escapes, and customer disruptions 
·  Completes a minimum of two Supplier Quality Leader-approved DMAIC projects 
·  Establishes PFMEAs for all assigned parts
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Sourcing) 
·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Sourcing, or Supplier Quality Engineering 

 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S): 

·  Ability and willingness to travel (approximately 25-35%) to provide onsite support at suppliers, as needed
Desired Characteristics

·  Engineering degree from an accredited university or college preferred 
·  Basic understanding of GE Aviation Engines Quality Management System (policies, procedures, and support tools / systems) 
·  Ability to review documentation and witness supplier practices to determine if sound manufacturing and inspection principles are in place
·  Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing 
·  Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems 
·  Lean Six Sigma trained 
·  Demonstrated ability to lead and support multiple projects simultaneously 
·  Strong oral and written communication skills 
·  Ability to influence others and lead small teams
