Role Summary/Purpose

The CMC Process Engineer - Metrology has the ultimate accountability for inspection equipment & processes for Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) manufactured components including contact & non-contact inspection methodologies.

Essential Responsibilities

The CMC Process Engineer - Metrology develops programs & processes of identified inspection technologies for dimensional inspection of manufactured aerospace products. Use, develop and/or train technicians on inspection technologies and/or Monitoring and Measuring Equipment (M&ME) to inspect product for dimensional conformance according to production schedule. Reads and interprets Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) data. Complies with internal quality system, business policies, and regulatory requirements; supports business goals and objectives.

In addition, as the CMC Process Engineer - Metrology, Duties and Responsibilities will include:

·  Develop programs & processes for inspection technologies, including contact & non-contact inspection methodologies

·  Works boundlessly with all organizations, including GRC, Cincinnati, Newark, Asheville, etc., in implementing state-of-the-art technologies / methodologies for M&ME

·  Reads, understands and is capable of developing blueprints, travelers / routers, processes, work instructions, inspection reports and/or templates including GD&T data on machine prints

·  Creates, troubleshoots & proves-out inspection technology programs & processes

·  Performs, develops and/or trains technicians on inspections / inspection methodologies, using multiple measurement and monitoring equipment & technologies, for final layout on components and analyze features to GD&T requirements

·  Works with CAD models to develop inspection methodologies

·  Support & provide technical expertise to enhance Statistical Process Control (SPC) collection to reduce inspection

·  Works autonomously as well as collaboratively in identifying needs, proactive support to manufacturing & enhancing production MME usage

·  Performs other duties as assigned to support manufacturing processes
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience related to precision manufacturing, inspection and/or metrology)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

·  Ability & willingness to support 24x7 manufacturing facility
Desired Characteristics

·  Experience using, programming, troubleshooting, etc. of CMM, White light, Blue light, Laser, go / no-go gauging, eGage, contact and/or non-contact inspection technologies

·  Ability to program and use CMM with PCDMIS software and/or NX CMM programming

·  Ability to use computer programs to create inspection reports

·  Extensive experience and/or knowledge of multiple inspection technology means / methods for both contact and/or non-contact inspections

·  LEAN manufacturing experience & passion

·  Strives to meet or exceed job requirements

·  Ability to adapt to business needs & flexibility in changing priorities

·  Proven track record of effective training & mentoring of others

·  Strong knowledge of GD&T and how to apply those requirements to create and inspect features

·  Strong mathematical, analytical, writing and communication skills

·  Proven history of sense of urgency in supporting production needs
