Overview

This is a Hybrid role in Irving/TX that requires 3 days in the office. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Store Technology team. In this role, you will architect, build, and scale modern applications that power in‑store operations, associate workflows, and customer experiences. You will work across the full technology stack—frontend, backend, cloud services, and data integrations—while driving engineering excellence and partnering closely with product, UX, and cross‑functional technology teams.

 

This position is ideal for engineers who thrive in fast‑paced retail environments, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and can deliver high‑quality solutions that support thousands of store associates and customers.

Responsibilities

·  Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade applications that support store operations, inventory management, associate tools, and omnichannel experiences.
·  Develop high‑performance backend services and APIs using modern .NET (C#) on a microservices‑driven architecture.
·  Build intuitive, scalable UI components using modern web frameworks such as React or Angular , integrated cleanly with .NET backend systems.
·  Implement cloud-native applications on Azure , leveraging services such as Functions, Container Apps, Key Vault, App Configuration, and Azure SQL.
·  Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and engineering peers to translate requirements into secure, resilient solutions.
·  Lead architectural design discussions, code reviews, technical planning, and engineering best‑practices.
·  Integrate systems with store hardware and IoT devices (e.g., scanners, printers, POS systems, smart shelves).
·  Ensure solutions meet performance, availability, and security standards required for large-scale retail operations.
·  Drive continuous improvement across testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and operational readiness.
·  Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a healthy engineering culture.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

·  Advanced .NET development experience - modern .NET, .NET Framework, ASP.NET (multi-threading, performance tuning, etc)
·  Strong experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs and backend services (some SOAP services)
·  Strong experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle DB (schema design, query optimization, stored procedures, etc)
·  Advanced experience with Git and Git-based workflows (feature branching, pull requests, code reviews)
·  Good understanding of cloud-native architectures, preferably in Azure (container orchestration, secret/configuration management, etc)
·  Experience building and/or maintaining CI/CD pipelines using a platform like GitHub Actions or others
·  Experience with front-end development using React or another modern JavaScript framework
·  Strong experience with logging/monitoring tools like New Relic, App Insights, or similar (dashboarding, alerting, performance troubleshooting, etc)
·  Understanding of source control best practices, branching strategies, and code-quality standards
·  Ability to refactor and modernize legacy .NET apps
·  Moderate understanding of API integrations, troubleshooting across distributed systems
·  Experience performing code reviews and mentoring engineers

 

Preferred Requirements:

·  Strong experience with Azure Container Apps (ACA), Azure Functions, App Config, Key Vault, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), etc
·  Experience driving modernization efforts from on-prem .NET to Azure cloud-native architectures
·  Experience designing scalable enterprise architectures (event-driven systems, data storage, caching, API integration, etc)
·  Experience building automated unit tests for .NET apps
·  Experience building Kotlin Android apps
·  Moderate experience working with Kafka (or event-driven architecture)
·  Experience designing or implementing solutions using MongoDB
·  Experience using JIRA, Confluence, or Miro for project documentation
·  Moderate experience with Java

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $110000 - $130000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
