Eltek Systems are a leading independent provider of industrial process and automation solutions to the food industry. We are part of Vinci Energies a £12.5 billion organisation and are looking to recruit an experienced Control System Technical Writer to support our ongoing projects in the UK and overseas.

This is a niche role. The Technical Writer will play a key role within a team of electrical design engineers, software engineers and technicians to ensure the delivery of complex, quick turn around electrical process and automation projects mainly for the food industry.

Your role will be to produce of a suite of control system technical documentation - on a per project basis - to meet milestone deliverables within time and budget constraints. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing control system technical documentation (version controlled) such as

• Functional Design Specifications,
• PLC Software Specifications,
• Functional Safety Design Specifications,
• Software Test Record Specifications,
• Factory Acceptance Test Specifications.

It will involve Frequent progress meetings with project team and liaising with third parties.

A ‘hands on’ approach is essential in this role.   A strong technical understanding of production process control and PLC/SCADA software configuration is essential to satisfy this role.

Desired profile

Skills and Experience:

• Fully understand the PLC and SCADA software configuration lifecycle against which the technical documentation relates. For Functional Safety Design Documentation Specifications (FSDS) this will involve the application of Safety PLC’s and well as hardwired Safety Systems.
• Full understanding of machine automation & applications development; predominantly involving Allen Bradley / Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers, SCADA, related Ethernet based infrastructure and architecture, VFD Drives and Process Instrumentation.
• Able to interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Plant Layout Drawings, Motor and Device Listings to capture and document the process control needs of the project.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
• Proven track record producing technical documentation within the System Integrators environment.
• Strong technical, control system software development and electrical understanding and experience is essential.  Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Software Programming & SCADA configuration is a definite advantage.
