About the job

The Medical & Nutritional Science department is hiring a Senior Data Scientist on a permanent contract in the Clinical Research & Health Data team. The position is based in Gif-sur-Yvette (91) on the Saclay plateau in the Danone Global Research & Innovation Center Daniel Carasso Centre which is at the heart of Danone Research & Innovation. It comprises laboratories and pilot workshops at the cutting edge of science and technology, with employees working collectively to innovate on the dairy and plant products, waters and specialised nutrition of tomorrow.   

The Medical & Nutritional Science R&I division aims to create value and growth opportunities for Danone around Nutrition and/or Health. 

Missions:  

Reporting to the Data Science & Data Engineering team leader, the Senior Data Scientist is responsible for:

·  Carrying out end-to-end analyses for various Danone R&I departments in France, the Netherlands, Singapore, and elsewhere in the organization, from gathering business requirements to analyzing and putting into production Data Science products developed according to established Data Science best practices
·  Designing and performing bioinformatics and ML analyses for life science, microbiome, microbial, nutritional, and recipe-related applications
·  Working in collaboration with other data experts (such as Data Architect, Data Engineer, BI expert),
·  Regularly monitoring Data Science techniques, identifying opportunities for other R&I professions, presenting them, designing roadmaps for data projects,
·  Communicating data results and concepts to our R&I partners in a pedagogical manner,
·  Contributing to the harmonization and standardization of Data Science practices within the team, and facilitating the application of these best practices by more junior Data Science profiles

About you

Must have: 

·  M.Sc. or equivalent, or Ph.D., in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics or Statistics
·  Significant experience in Life Science, Health, or Microbiology
·  Significant experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, managing data project end-to-end
·  Excellent command of python, pandas, github, shell, even R
·  Very good use of python Data Science tools: scikit-learn, pytorch, tensorflow, keras ... 
·  Passionate about Data Science and its applications
·  Fluent in French and English
·  Good interpersonal skills, good communication skills, curious, problem-solving skills

 

Nice to have: 

·  Professional experience in industry in similar roles, e.g. in a data lab
·  Participation in kaggle competitions, hackathons, etc.
