Are you looking for a great opportunity as a Scientist with knowledge on plant based proteins?

For the Protein & Plant Based team in the Center of Excellence (CoE), Ingredients, Engines and Plant based at R&I of the Special Nutrition Division in Danone, we are looking for an enthusiastic Food Scientist with a drive to develop innovative solutions for our specialized nutrition products. Driven by curiosity and with an open and collaborative mindset.

The CoE Ingredients, Engines and Plant based is part of the Product & Technology organization in Danone Nutricia Research. The team’s mission is to develop expertise and protype products that lead to innovative products for the whole Specialized Nutrition product portfolio.

About the Job

In this role, you will:

·  Develop prototypes using new protein sources, that deliver a new benefit to our consumers;
·  Scout for new ingredient opportunities and develop new opportunities together with suppliers
·  Extend our expertise in the area of plant based proteins by introduction of new analytical methods, literature search and connection with outside partners.

About You

You have knowledge on protein ingredients from plant materials or other new protein sources, including knowledge on composition of original materials, analysis methods for characterization and impact of processing on ingredient properties. Preferably a good understanding on techno-functional behavior of proteins in food systems.

We are looking for someone with a hands-on mentality, motivated to experiment in lab and pilot plant environment, creative in finding solutions and high agility to deal with unexpected results. The candidate should have an open communication style and will know how to connect to different functions.

·  Academic master’s in Food technology, or similar educational background, preferably with a PhD or similar experience.
·  Experience with working with plant based ingredients, especially plant proteins.
·  Preferably 4yr+ works experience in a relevant field of expertise
·  Work experience with both lab scale analysis and pilot scale testing.
·  Good understanding of various processing technologies (dissolving, emulsification, heating);
·  Good understanding of meaning of measured chemical and physical product parameters.
·  Ability to set up, perform and analyze experiments and suggest new steps based on obtained results; critical mind set.
·  Ability to assimilate information efficiently and draw reasoned conclusion
·  Comfortable in working with different functions, with internal and external partners
·  Good communication skills with fluency in English;
·  Personal skills: results driven, hands-on, accurate, organized self-starter and a team player.
