Job Purpose
To provide overall operational management (from a Danone perspective) of all secondary warehousing and logistics activities in South Africa, ensuring achievement of customer service and budget objectives, while maintaining and managing the 3PL relationship

Key Areas of Responsibility

This role will be responsible for managing the day to day warehousing and logistics operations to over 4000 stores across Southern Africa by managing the 3 rd Party Logistics Service provider appointed by Danone. This network comprises 4 warehouses, 10 cross-dock operations and ~560 direct and indirect employees nationally.

This equates to having to monitor and ensure that over 1000 customer deliveries get made every day. This role manages the last leg of the SC into the customer and is therefore critical in ensuring customer service to the business.

The role will also be responsible for managing the 3PL budget, which for 2018 is in the region of R550mil. Part of the role's financial responsibilities will also be the management and resolution of the Customer claims process between Danone, the 3PL and Danone's customers. These claims equate to roughly R48mil per annum.

Through the above the role will also need to generate and implement improvement projects to drive cost efficiencies and improve service to customers (~R15mil goal for 2018).

Lastly it should be noted that this role plays a critical coordination and linking role between Planning, Sales, Finance (especially Accounts Receivable), Call centre, 3PL and Customers.

Day to day activities will involve the following:

·  Monitor daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient execution
·  Manage claims process to ensure all customer claims are settled within agreed timelines.
·  Ensure high customer service level through coordination and collaboration with stakeholders
·  Peak and holiday planning with depots for internal and external stakeholders.
·  Controlling of budgets and overall cost adherence.
·  Monitor and report on activities within the warehouse network to identify productivity improvements and cost reductions
·  Auditing of depot processes, safety, quality, WISE and documentation to ensure 100% compliance and timely submission where necessary
·  Proactive and frequent communication to improve visibility of operations to stakeholders
·  Various reporting and monitoring requirements
·  Assist in stock management and issues with the inventory controllers
·  Work flexible hours along with the needs of the supply chain.
·  Various supply chain projects/initiatives

Travel where necessary to the depots within the network to execute the responsibilities.

Qualification

·  Degree (Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering)

Skills and Experience

·  4-6 years' relevant experience in various supply chain operations in either multi-national(s) or major South African organizations
·  Min 2 years' experience in major contract management
·  Dynamic and active stakeholder management
·  Influencing skills
·  Proven track record of substantial budget management (>R200mil pa)
·  Thorough knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain processes, and inter-relationship between activities
·  Conflict management and resolution
·  Supply Chain/Logistics Principles
·  Warehousing/ distribution operations experience
·  Administrative skills
·  Strong negotiation skills
·  Presentation skills
·  Advanced knowledge of MS Office, MS Windows and MS Excel
