JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for ensuring the packaging line runs efficiently by monitoring equipment, trouble shooting minor mechanical issues, cleaning, completing the appropriate documentation and stocking the equipment with packaging materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Monitor case packing equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly
· Stock equipment with cardboardwrapsand2pk &3 packsleeves
· Troubleshoot and correct minor issues with the case packing equipment, including size change-overs / 2pk-6pk
· Document and reportOperator Quality Inspections and take line samples per guidelines
· CIP and ensure the work area is clean and straightened at all times
· Provide break relief to operations personnel,which may include Filler Operatorsand line take-away driver s as needed
· Record downtime data, participate in root cause analysis and engage in corrective actions as directed by Supervisors/Lead.
· Provide expert user advice and/or data as required to process observers, improvement teams and /or management for continuous improvement and process excellence initiatives
· Flex Matrix training to accommodate Autonomous Maintenance, CIPs, and Allergen Turn s events
· Forklift Qualified, perform duties as assigned
· Perform other duties as assigned
GUIDELINES & EXPECTATIONS
· Follow “4 Seconds for Safety”, ensure PPE and GMP policies are followed at all times. Ensure LOTO is utilized at all appropriate times. Line rotation is to be utilized as necessary to ensure balance for ergonomic conditions between Operators and Line Conditions.
· Quality is all of our responsibilities. Please ensure you actively promote Quality and pro-actively communicate any and all deviations to all appropriate parties in a timely manner (Supervisor, Filler Op, etc.)
· 2 nd Quality production brought back by the Cold Storage Warehouse is our responsibility to recondition in a timely manner, take ownership, assist your teammates as time allows. Conveyor cleaning is another example of a quality CPM that is our responsibility. Any 2 nd quality production under 5 pallets produced by your crew must be completed before you leave your shift.
· Production Rework could entail overtime (on shift and off day)
· Production is equal with Safety and Quality. Champion DAMAWAVE initiatives (Stops, Quality, Defect ID-Restoration, Clean-Inspect-Lube, Centerlining). Ensure your area of responsibility is functioning properly. If the Palletizer goes down, initiate/assist restoration in a timely manner.
· When corrugate is required to be baled, all downline operators will assist DL lead, either as an assignment or by assisting the downline lead. This will need to be completed before shift end or the operator is granted to stay over to complete the task.
· All milk will need to be dumped before shift end. If you can’t complete the task before shift end you will be required to stay over to complete the task.
· All spills will need to be cleaned before shift end, and area needs to be up to standard for transition.
· All paperwork will need to be complete before shift change and verbally communicated to the on-coming operator in a timely manner.
· ADCO and DIMAC will need to be blown out and be organized before shift change.
· You are required to make copies of documents if you pull the last one, ensuing the next shift is set up for success.
· When the filler goes down for CIP All downline operators will go into the Filler Room for hand cleaning and/or PMs’ if required, unless directed elsewhere.
· You will follow instructions of Team Lead/DL lead.
· You will take daily direction from the Downline Lead representative to ensure smooth department operations.
· You will need to monitor your break times and communicate /align with fellow teammates to ensure line/department coverage.
· You will have 100% of your stops documented in Informance, find at least 1 defect per week and document in the logbook, complete 100% of the CIL’s and CL’s for your shift and document them in the logbook. You will have 100% of your quality inspections completed and documented on the OQI sheet.
· You are responsible to set up the carton barcode scanner during flavor changes and at shift change.
· If you are having an issue with the machinery or quality for over 10 minutes, you must let the team lead and downline lead know or call the mechanics.
· You must be flexible to cover any and all other departments that you have been trained in as needed or directed by the team lead.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Manufacturing experience and/or packaging experience is preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITITES:
· Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
· Knowledge of safety programs and procedures
· Experience operating packaging equipment
· Available and willing to be contacted by phone in the event of an emergency and be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, late shifts and overtime
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, and small group situations, to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to hear and perceive information at normal spoke word levels.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must have the ability to apply commonsense and understanding when carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Must have the ability to prioritize and organize.
Must have the ability to demonstrate superb decision-making skills to determine the best course of action when performing the responsibilities of the job
