PRGM (Commercial Strategy) is responsible for creating, evaluating and driving execution of our key business strategies across Danone Waters UK & Ireland. The main mission of the role is tofacilitate strategic insight and decision making - to drive the PRGM vision through smart, evolving analysis, streamlining the depth and pace at which we understand our commercial decisions.
KEY CHALLENGES:
· Understanding of dynamics of our different sales channels and their impact on commercial decisions
· Understanding of different PRGM levers or ‘pillars’, and how they interact
· This is a very fast-moving environment, and you will need to thrive on that!
· There is always a new challenge, and the data sometimes can’t keep up – you will need to be able to utilize data in a complex, ever-changing way to meet that challenge.
· We look at data in a complex way, and you will need to be able to communicate complicated analyses clearly to colleagues less familiar with analysis
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The main job responsibilities will mainly be focused around the 5 key PRGM pillars:
PROMOTIONS:
· Responsibility for owning and collating our promotional database, specifically owning the process of collating others’ input, and creating key analysis from the data to provide exciting and innovative insights and making recommendations to drive better decision making in the business.
· The insights will be communicated internally across the Sale teams and specifically to the DWUK&I Leadership Team in our monthly business cycle meetings.
· You will also be required to engage and communicate these strategy insights and recommendations internally to the relevant NAM and to influence them to apply these insights to their customers that will have a direct impact on their P&L.
· Responsible for owning the correct deployment of the promotional strategies and to challenge the NAM when the correct strategies are not applied. Required to understand and respond to these challenges if the strategies do not meet the NAM’s requirement for their accounts and to devise new ones to meet these requirements.
· This role will be responsible for consolidating data on competitor promotional activity and to use this to provide insight and recommendations for how we balance our market share with profitability through promotional investment. These recommendations will have a direct impact on the P&L
MIX:
· You will own the process of updating our Mix tool with the most recent data and key insights. You will be required to analyse different scenarios and share the impact of different outcomes for consideration internally.
INVESTMENT
· You will be responsible for developing the right lens & modelling for ongoing evaluation of our trade investment. With a monthly refresh, the team can act in the knowledge that the data is always correct.
PRICING:
· You will be responsible for owning the process of pricing scenario modelling and setting up tools to enable easy interrogation of pricing queries to communicate internally and to use to consult with NAM’s on their pricing strategies .
PRICE PACK ARCHITECTURE:
· Our product portfolio always needs to keep up with the demands of an ever-changing market and consumer, and we focus constantly on new channels, products and opportunities. You will help drive this through adhoc commercial analysis of new innovation to make recommendations internally on what should be launched in the Market and to also inform what is required to be explored further.
In addition to the above, this role will report and analyse weekly on key business metric trends currently reviewed in monthly business cycles, to enable speedy identification of key issues for discussion within the business. There will also be an element of adhoc requests from the Leadership Team, coming out of monthly business cycle meetings, to be identified through PRGM.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
· Ideally Graduate with a high level of excel skill and expertise
· Working knowledge of financial and commercial analysis
· Previous experience of FMCG (working on behalf of either manufacturer or retailer) and an understanding of the commercial levers (price, promo, investment)
LEADERSHIP & FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
· No direct reports however will be a critical supporting role for the other four members of the Commercial Strategy team and the Head of Commercial Strategy.
· Will not be directly responsible for a budget but will be participating in the recommendations from the Commercial Strategy team on how to best spend commercial investment.
