Sustainability Expert

As Sustainability Expert, you work from our offices in Sint-Denijs-Westrem (Ghent) and report directly to the Sustainability Manager being part of Alpro’s General Secretary Team and in close collaboration with Operations. Together, you build and define the Sustainability Roadmap for the coming years. Your focus is on project support and reporting of the progress on our Sustainability Roadmap to keep Alpro and Danone at leading edge of sustainability.

About the job

Your key responsibilities are:

·  Data is the first step! Data management & reporting:
·  You manage sustainability data, in order to monitor our progress against strategies, objectives and performance targets.
·  You calculate the impact on different sustainability KPI’s of big investment or packaging projects.
·  You report internally and externally, to make sure our sustainability projects are on track (e.g. CO2, water, energy).
·  You lead and organize data collection for important internal and external audits and assessments such as B-corp and Danone Environmental and Sustainability Audits.

·  Bring our strategy into live! Projects :
·  You contribute to the realization of our 2025 ambitions with regards to the 3 key focus areas: sustainable sourcing, zero impact operations and sustainable packaging.
·  You support the implementation of internal and external sustainability projects.
·  You take ownership of specific initiatives such as sustainability in operations and sustainability initiatives in the offices.

·  Spread the word! Stakeholder engagement :
·  You engage with many different internal and external stakeholders in order to successfully meet project and reporting deliverables.
·  In close collaboration with the Communications and HR team, you engage with internal stakeholders (within Alpro EU4 and towards global markets) to ensure sustainability projects and efforts are translated into concrete, engaging and interactive communication towards our own employees.
·  In close collaboration with the marketing teams, you ensure that the facts and figures of our sustainability projects and efforts are translated into concrete and understandable communication towards our consumers

·  Knowledge is everything! Research :
·  You support in conducting research and environmental impact assessments in order to continuously broaden our knowledge about our products and processes (e.g. product Life Cycle Analysis, packaging etc.).
·  We are ready for you to changeourway of working and for you to take us to the next level.

About you

To be able to achieve the above and be successful in this role:

·  You hold a Master Degree e.g. in Civil Engineering, Bio-Engineering, Communication, Business, Economics, … An additional Master in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, … is a strong asset.
·  You have at least 2-3 years working experience, preferably in sustainable development or sustainability communication.
·  It goes without saying that you are passionate about sustainability!
·  You combine a strong analytical mindset with excellent coordination/project management skills.
·  You are driven and have a positive mindset, you are pragmatic and can work fast forward with incomplete data
·  You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal in Dutch and English
·  You are prepared for occasional travel within EU and act across countries with local teams and connect with other Danone teams
