The company was started in 2009 and has become one of the thought leaders in the emerging energy storage industry, with track record in Europe, Americas, Africa, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. Clean Horizon acts both as a market analyst, providing energy storage market analysis for markets across the globe, and technical consultant, providing procurement support / due diligence services to investors as well as grid impact studies to utilities and development finance institutions worldwide.
II. Poste et missions:
II.1) Location
The Business Development Associate position will be handled as follows:
- First, the job will consist in a 6-month training in the company’s Paris office (possibly in the form of a “CDD”, a short-term contract)
- Then, the VIE position will formally open up as a 18 to 24 month placement in Mexico City, from where the VIE will work under the supervision of the management based in Paris. As the position does have a business development component, frequent travels in North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean (referred to here as the “Americas“ region) will be undertaken.
- After this, if the candidate has shown successful, a permanent position will be offered in Miami, USA in Clean Horizon Americas’ office (possibly after a 6 to 12 months interim stay in Paris)
II.2) Detailed job description
The Business Development Associate is a VIE position (“Volontariat International à l’Etranger”) which requires:
- Strong business development capabilities
- Desire to develop sales activities towards renewable energy investors in “Americas“ region
- Ability to realize consulting / analytical engagement
The present section describes the tasks involved in the position, along with the related percentage of time to be devoted to each.
Business Development – 20 %
- Assess the specific needs of key customer segments in the Americas region and evaluate how to balance creating tailored services for these customers with the need to manage financial and human resources effectively. Based on these recommendations, the company’s President will decide which resource to allocate to create new services.
- Develop and maintain a pricing strategy maximizing the company’s profit as well as customer adoption and retention.
- Coordinate and participate in trade shows to represent the company.
- Develop a marketing strategy for the company under the supervision of its President in order to penetrate the market for renewable energy producers and investors in the Americas region. A prioritization of target countries along with key customer segments and the go to market for each segment will be realized and updated quarterly.
Sales – 30 %
- Conduct commercial surveys to identify potential markets for Clean Horizon’s services.
- Engage in sales activities with renewable energy investors in the personal network of the Business Development Associate
- Negotiate contracts with vendors or distributors to manage product distribution, establishing distribution networks or developing distribution strategies.
- In the long run, direct the hiring, training, or performance evaluations of marketing or sales staff and oversee their daily activities.
Consulting with customers 50%
- Participate in client engagements as an analyst, in close collaboration with Clean Horizon’s project managers and President located in France
- Represent the company and maintain relationships with customers in the Americas region
III. Profile:
The Business Development Associate will join a small and super dedicated team so enthusiasm and dedication to contribute to making Clean Horizon’s internationalization strategy a success will be key.
Here are a few pointers for the required profile:
Imperative
- You have excellent ENGLISH writing skills as well as SPANISH spoken AND writing skills.
- Knowledge of French is a plus but not needed.
- You hold an advanced technical degree ideally with a focus on electrical engineering (e.g. Masters, Engineers Degree)
Previous experience
- You ideally have some preliminary experience in consulting and/or in the energy sector but it is OK if you do not.
Your personality
