Job description



This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Junior Brand Manager. Ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years marketing experience to join the dynamic Marketing team within the Ultimate House of Luxury.

The Junior Brand Manager will promote the Fragrance strategy, and ensure that it translates into practical, beautifully executed activity across all elements of the marketing mix.The successful candidate will be responsible for their product market across Domestic UK distribution and Tax-Free stores (UK and EIRE) and should be an expert in their given market to ensure they understand the facts and figures that drive it.

SKILLS REQUIRED :

·  2-3 years of relevant experience, with at least 1 full year in a role.
·  BA degree, preferably in Marketing / Business, or an analytical subject (e.g. Science / Mathematics)
·  The ability to plan and prioritise your own work
·  A self-motivated, responsible attitude
·  Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills
·  The ability to liaise comfortably and appropriately, both verbally and in writing at all levels
·  Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as being able to work independently and within a team, showing initiative and enthusiasm.

UK Responsibilities include:

           

1)  Resource Allocation, Leadership, Coaching and Motivation

·  Give direction to the F&B (Fragrance & Beauty) team Intern and Analyst, but also to other people (within Sales, Design, Training, Media, etc.) as necessary
·  Promote a culture of collaboration, trust & transparency with all other departments (Sales, Retail, Design, VM, Training, Media, Digital) at all times  
·  Liaise closely with the Group Brand Manager & Marketing Director to set clear priorities between projects

2)  In-depth expertise and mastery of the market

Examine and analyse the market in-depth and on a regular basis, to gain a full understanding of the marketplace, including:

·  Written analysis of every CHANEL launch, and of relevant competitor initiatives
·  Written reports analysing market share movements (CHANEL and competitors)
·  Supervision of the NPD markets and SOM trends (outsourced to NPD). Conduct other market analysis as necessary (Kantar etc..)
·  Active participation to the preparation of the yearly Business Reviews and Budget presentations
·  Supervision of competitor positioning analysis and tracking, in particular pricing strategy for new product launches
·  Identification of issues requiring market research
·  Regular store visits to stay aware of market & competitive trends and activities as well as assess CHANEL initiatives

3)  Co-leadership of the strategy and vision for CHANEL Fragrance

In collaboration with Group Brand Manager & other departments, define the annual Marketing Strategy for the brand. Be responsible for its execution.

Definition of Strategy

·  Help set up and manage an annual process for defining the brand’s strategy for Y+1
·  Help define assortment, pricing, Trade activity, launch strategy for each product/campaign in line with Global strategy and taking into account market reality.
·  Recommend strategy and plans to Group Brand Manager for validation
·  Help organise consultative meetings with Sales, Retail, Digital, Media, Training, Design to ensure all key departments are aware of plans, and ideas /potential issues are heard.
·  Consult Digital team and Retail team manager for the specific dotcom and SAB / Concession strategy
·  Work collaboratively with Sales & Retail to co-define Trade strategy & Trade plans
·  Help develop if necessary local animations to strengthen plans. Seek Global approval when doing so
·  Assist in setting financial targets (with other departments’ co-operation) for the brand (MTP, Budget)
·  Define specific measurable goals for the brand as part of the process
·  Present strategy for approval
·  Measure and report results against goals – as and when the results are available

Execution of Strategy

·  Ongoing management of assortment, including specific retailer / distribution channel assortment
·  Constant re-evaluation of a product’s market potential and performance
·  Ensure products are well-positioned within the market
·  Ensure all product materials (e.g. samples; tester units; price lists) are in the marketplace when required and are properly updated
·  Ensure all other relevant sales materials (e.g. permanent testing facilities) are up-to-date and kept in good repair

4)  Annual Commercial/Trade Activity Plan for CHANEL Fragrance

Help define and execute the annual activity plan:

·  Defined on the basis of the international plan, developed and modified over time

Relevance of Plan

Work with other departments to ensure relevance of Plan:

·  Commercially (Sales Department – both Domestic and Tax-Free)
·  Practically (Training, Supply and Display teams)
·  Aesthetically (Design team)

Execution of Plan

Written brief for all projects (e.g. Design) & management of timeline (on-time delivery)

Ensure quality of execution & ensure proper sign-off of all elements by Group Brand Manager & Marketing Director

5)  Product Display and Merchandising

·  Work closely with the Design and Display teams – and especially the Merchandising Manager – to create unambiguous product display merchandising codes
·  Inform, and work with, Merchandising Manager well in advance of new launches. Create critical path for local tester stand / hotspot / POS development
·  Set cost target for such developments, and ensure targets are met.
·  Ensure enough product dummies & props are budgeted for and ordered

6)  Product Forecasting

·  Be responsible for accurate forecasting of product demand for the brand, and aligned with Budget targets
·  Oversee all product forecasting –including dotcom, Fashion Boutiques, SAB & Concessions . Involve, Sales & Digital during forecast validations.
·  Monitor Actual vs Forecast results as part of the launch analysis

7)  Brand Budget

·  Be responsible for good management of all budgets for the brand
·  Help set Y+1 annual budget, seek validation from Group Brand Manager and Marketing Director
·  Stay within current year’s budget; alert Group Brand Manager and Marketing Director of any big variances, and propose corrective actions if necessary
·  Ensure accuracy of budget reporting and coding (invoices, purchase requisitions) within all promo lines
·  Monitor exchange rate with finance to calculate impact on budget

8)  Translations

·  Oversee translations on the brand, incl. proof-reading and appropriate sign-off  

9) Developing the Communications Strategy for the CHANEL Fragrance*

Work with the Group Brand Manager to define the strategy for, and oversee execution of the communications plan:

·  Brief the media agency, Media and PR teams on the brand’s objectives

Execution of Strategy

Ensure the media agency, Media and PR teams remain on-strategy throughout the current year of operation through:

·  Regular formal meetings
·  Regular informal updates/information exchange

*Note that the level of JBM involvement in the Fragrance Communications strategy is at the Group Manager’s discretion, and will depend on business priorities.

10) Miscellaneous

General Support

·  Support all other teams (internal or external) with the information or material necessary for them to do their jobs effectively
·  Promote a culture of collaboration, trust & transparency

Meetings

·  Prepare and present to a professional standard in a variety of meetings, including quarterly Sales Cycle, bi-annual Retailer Strategy Meetings, monthly Progress and Validation meetings, annual Conference, ad hoc press launches
