Position Description

Your future duties and responsibilities
The Technical Writer will perform a variety of documentation services to assist technical experts performing systems design, implementation, performance optimization, and administration of Library IT infrastructure over its full system lifecycle. Library infrastructure resides in four data centers located in Washington, DC (2), Manassas, VA, and Culpeper, VA.

The Technical Writer will work with system engineers and architects to develop/edit system documentation, procedural documents, status reports, and other routine reports required to meet project objectives.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
REQUIRED:
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Experience drafting and editing technical documentation

PREFERRED:
• Experience documenting system administration processes and operational procedures
• Experience preparing technical documentation summarizing server configurations and network environments, backup and system recovery procedures
• Experience documenting technical plans associated with system software patches, upgrades, and data migration requirements
• Experience producing and maintaining technical reports and project deliverables
• Proficiency using Windows 7 and MS Office 2016

• Work schedule of 40 hours a week Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30am and 6:30pm, except for Federal holidays or government-directed closings
• Infrequent performance of duties during evenings or weekends may be required with advance client approval.
• Travel to data center facilities local to Washington, DC may be required.
Desired:
• BS degree in business related field
• Prior experience supporting the Library of Congress
