We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer proficient in developing and managing a Microsoft Azure cloud data platform.
This position is open to candidates Located near a CGI office with preference to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, area.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Responsible for the development and management of organizational data assets working in a Microsoft Azure cloud data platform leveraging Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory
• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources, prepare, integrate, and maintain data structures in support of advanced analytics, self-service reporting, and strategic data initiatives
• Develop and execute data pipelines, standard or custom queries and/or reports to retrieve data as required
• Design and implement new data models and views to meet business requirements
• Perform data profiling, data cleansing, aggregations, and normalization to deliver data products that are available for end-user consumption
• Ensure that data integration, data movement, and warehouse solutions meet business requirements and service-level agreements
• Work with architects to translate requirements into technical specifications
• Coordinate data model reviews, architecture approach and solution design discussions
• Conduct root cause analysis of business problems; suggest areas for process improvement
• Validate data for completeness and accuracy based on guidelines set by project stakeholders or downstream data and analytics systems
• Participate in development of data test strategy, developing test plans and the execution of use cases to validate data (e.g., create test data, identify existing data to use for testing, writing test scripts to validate data loads, conversions, views, opening defects, etc.)
• Execute and promote data management and data governance strategies and standards
• Responsible for communicating planned and unplanned activities to appropriate parties as needed
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field is preferred
• Minimum of 5-7 years of data warehousing, data lifecycle management, and computer programming experience
• Experience in database design and data modeling
• Experience with structured query language (SQL)
• Strong learning orientation and curiosity; comfortable learning new systems/software applications
• Strong analytical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge in multiple of the following is preferred: MS Azure: Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Synapse Azure Data Factory/SSIS or related tool
• Business visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Proven experience on projects involving data integration, data warehousing, data cleansing, data mapping, and data conversion activities
• Well versed in data management concepts, data lifecycle and methodologies
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity
• Excellent written and oral communication, as well as strong organizational and presentation skills
• Exhibit a strong desire to understand the organization, its industry, and its strategies
• Possess a solid overall understanding of technology concepts, trends, and capabilities
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a dynamic environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships within and between individuals and cross-functional teams
• Understands and demonstrates the company’s core values of Communication, Consideration, Cooperation, Accountability, and Innovation
• Working knowledge of agile methodology framework is a plus
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $68,700 - $190,100.
