Position Description:
We are looking for a bilingual Solution Architect / Conversion Architect to support a strategic conversion project within a complex banking environment.
The selected candidate will be responsible for defining and documenting the conversion strategy, assessing the current-state architecture, identifying system impacts, and guiding the design of the target-state solution. This role requires a strong understanding of legacy and modern platforms, system integration, data flows, business processes, and migration planning.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect with strong analytical capabilities, able to connect business objectives, technical constraints, application dependencies, and operational impacts. The candidate must be comfortable working with business stakeholders, technical teams, project leadership, and delivery teams in both English and French.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
The Solution Architect / Conversion Architect will be responsible for:
Leading the architectural analysis and strategy definition for a major system conversion project.
Defining the overall conversion approach, including migration principles, sequencing, dependencies, risks, and transition considerations.
Analyzing the current-state architecture, including applications, interfaces, data flows, batch processes, dependencies, and integration points.
Collaborating with business and IT stakeholders to understand requirements, constraints, pain points, and expected outcomes.
Designing and documenting the target-state architecture and transition architecture.
Producing clear architecture documentation, including solution diagrams, data flow diagrams, interface mappings, conversion flows, and system interaction models.
Identifying impacts across legacy platforms, distributed systems, databases, interfaces, reporting, operations, and downstream systems.
Supporting the definition of data conversion, application conversion, coexistence, reconciliation, and cutover strategies.
Providing architectural guidance to project teams, developers, analysts, QA teams, infrastructure teams, and production support teams.
Facilitating architecture workshops, working sessions, and alignment discussions with business and technical stakeholders.
Identifying technical risks, architectural gaps, dependencies, assumptions, and mitigation options.
Supporting estimation, planning, and delivery roadmap activities related to the conversion.
Ensuring that proposed solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Communicating clearly in English and French, both verbally and in writing.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Required Qualifications
The candidate should have:
Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Application Architect, or Conversion Architect in complex enterprise environments.
Experience defining or supporting conversion, migration, modernization, or transformation strategies.
Strong experience analyzing current-state and target-state architectures.
Strong understanding of application integration, data flows, interfaces, batch processing, and system dependencies.
Experience working with legacy platforms and modern/distributed systems.
Ability to document architecture clearly using diagrams, flowcharts, interface maps, and technical documentation.
Experience facilitating technical workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to translate business needs into practical architectural recommendations.
Experience working in project delivery environments with multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and technical dependencies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required.
Nice-to-Have Skills
The following would be considered strong assets:
Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
Experience with Mainframe, AS/400 / IBM i, or other legacy platforms.
• CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000–$130,000.This role is an existing vacancy
Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role requiring interaction with national and global clients.

We are seeking individuals with expertise in IT architect-related functions, but licensure from an architect regulator is not a prerequisite for this position.
