Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time. 
At CGI, we're at the forefront of helping financial institutions modernize and scale through cloud-enabled IP solutions. 
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, deploy, and secure cloud infrastructure supporting CGI's next-generation financial products. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with VM-based deployments, Kubernetes (GKE), Terraform automation, and cloud security.
In this role, you will act as a cloud subject matter expert (SME), collaborating with solution architects, product engineering teams, and platform security leads to host scalable, resilient, and compliant cloud workloads for CGI's IP solutions.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Cloud Solution Design & Deployment
. Design and implement secure, scalable GCP-based infrastructure for CGI's IPs environments, leveraging Compute Engine, VPC design, and hybrid network architectures.
. Architect and operate Kubernetes clusters (GKE) to support multi-tenant and high-availability applications.
. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ensuring automation, reusability, and compliance with CGI standards.
. Collaborate with DevOps and product engineering teams to integrate infrastructure provisioning into CI/CD pipelines.
Operations & Optimization
. Manage and optimize production, pre-prod, and test environments for reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
. Implement cloud monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
. Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and drive continuous improvement in performance and reliability.
Security & Governance
. Apply cloud security best practices.
. Partner with CGI's security and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with relevant standards and internal governance.
. Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability reviews, and remediation for cloud workloads.
Leadership & Enablement
. Serve as a GCP SME, providing guidance on design patterns, automation standards, and deployment practices.
. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to CGI's Cloud Engineering Playbook and Reusable Infrastructure Modules Library.
. Collaborate with architecture and platform teams to evolve CGI's cloud blueprint.
. Stay ahead of emerging GCP technologies and contribute to multi-cloud capability assessments (AWS, Azure).

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation.
. Expert-level knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, Compute Engine, IAM, VPC, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, GKE, networking, etc.
. Advanced proficiency in Terraform, including custom modules, remote state, and environment automation.
. Strong Kubernetes expertise, GKE cluster management, Helm, workload scaling, and troubleshooting.
. Proven understanding of cloud security, compliance, and identity management in enterprise environments.
. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
. Scripting proficiency in Python, and Bash.
. Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with product, architecture, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
. GCP Professional Certifications: Cloud Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Security Engineer.
. Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud services.
. Experience in SaaS product environments or multi-tenant application deployments.
. Exposure to observability and service mesh frameworks (Istio, Envoy).
. Experience in regulated environments such as banking or financial services.
