Senior Business Consultant – IT (Energy)

Position Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Consultant to act as a key liaison between business and IT in the energy sector. This role combines a strong understanding of energy industry processes with analytical thinking, consulting expertise, and the ability to design and deliver modern IT solutions that support digital transformation initiatives.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Analyze business processes in the energy sector (generation, distribution, trading, settlement, trade data reporting under REMIT Regulation, etc.)
• Translate business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications of SW solutions
• Collaborate closely with clients, IT architects, development and teams
• Design target business processes and IT solutions (including integration platforms)
• Lead and facilitate workshops, stakeholder discussions, and management presentations
• Support project delivery activities (scope, timeline, risks, change requests)
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to knowledge sharing
• Monitor and apply trends in energy digitalization (cloud, AI)

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 5–7+ years of experience as a business or IT consultant, business analyst, or similar role
• Proven experience in the energy or utilities sector (preferably electricity and gas)
• Basic knowledge of wholesale energy market principles in Europe
• Ability to understand complex business and technical environments
• Hands-on experience with business process analysis and modeling (BPMN, UML, use cases)
• Experience with IT system implementations or large-scale transformation projects
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and to lead small teams
• Professional proficiency in English

Nice to Have
• Knowledge of the energy regulatory environment (national regulators, EU regulations)
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies (PRINCE2)
• Knowledge of Enterprise Architect and JIRA tools
• Knowledge of SQL
• Familiarity with specific platforms and tools (Oracle, S/4HANA Utilities, etc.)
