Senior AI Developer – LLM Integration & Java/Spring

Position Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Developer to join our technology team and drive the acceleration of AI-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AI/ML, large language model (LLM) integration, and workflow automation, along with hands-on experience in Java and the Spring Framework. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and scaling AI agents and intelligent workflows to enhance product capabilities and operational efficiency.

This is a hybrid role, requiring presence at our downtown Toronto office and/or client site for a minimum of 4 days per week (subject to change).

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of AI-powered solutions, including AI agents, chatbots, and intelligent automation workflows.
• Integrate LLMs (e.g., GPT, Cohere, or open-source models) into Java/Spring-based applications for NLP, decision-making, and predictive analytics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, data scientists, product managers) to define AI strategy, roadmap, and technical requirements.
• Optimize AI workflows for scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency, leveraging Oracle databases for data management.
• Mentor junior developers and promote innovation in AI/ML practices.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies and assess their business applicability.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical AI standards.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Strong experience in AI/ML development and LLM integration.
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Framework.
• Proven experience with workflow automation and AI-driven system design.
• Experience with MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and model deployment in production.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
• Experience working with Oracle databases or similar enterprise data systems.

Nice to Have
• Contributions to open-source AI projects or publications in AI research.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000–$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
