Position Description:

CGI is currently seeking multiple Satcom Engineers to join our growing team in Canberra. This is an opportunity to become part of our Space, Defence & Intelligence unit as it continues to grow from the ground up.

CGI is a global leader in mission-critical software systems for the space industry. We work on major European navigation, communication, and earth-observation programmes and are specialists in space security and ground control systems.

Our deep expertise in the space sector, combined with our contribution to significant technical advancements, has enabled us to support many of the world’s most prestigious space programmes. These include Cassini-Huygens, Galileo, Copernicus, Inmarsat 4, MSG, MTG, MTSAT, Rosetta, Skynet, and XMM-Newton. To date, our software has supported missions for more than 200 satellites.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

As a Satcom Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of satellite communication systems. This role requires a highly skilled professional with experience in satellite communications and the ability to operate within a secure environment.

Key responsibilities include:

-Designing, configuring, and maintaining satellite communication systems and networks
-Performing system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation
-Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and integrate new solutions
-Ensuring compliance with security protocols and standards
-Preparing and maintaining detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, and procedures
-Conducting regular system testing and updates to ensure reliability and efficiency

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

-Minimum of 1 year’s experience in satellite communications
-Understanding of RF, satellite link budgets, and modulation techniques
-Experience with satellite communication hardware and software
-Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
-Ability to work effectively within a team environment
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one
