OpenStack Engineering specialist (VMware Migration)

Position Description:

We are looking for a Cloud Specialist with expertise in VMware and OpenStack to execute migrations from VMware to OpenStack. The role involves hands-on implementation using Hystax Live Cloud Migration, Coriolis, or similar tools, ensuring minimal downtime and successful workload transitions. The engineer will collaborate closely with architects and operations teams to execute and optimize migrations.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Migration Execution: Perform migrations from VMware to OpenStack using Hystax, Coriolis, or alternative tools.
• Infrastructure Configuration: Set up and configure VMware and OpenStack environments for migration readiness.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts and automation workflows for migration and post-migration validation.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Identify and resolve technical issues in migration processes.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize compute, storage, and networking resources for the target OpenStack environment.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of migration activities, issues, and resolutions.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, or migration projects.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX, and OpenStack (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, etc.).
• Familiarity with migration tools such as Hystax, Coriolis, CloudEndure, Velostrata, Morpheus Data, Zerto, or similar.
• Knowledge of networking, storage, and security in VMware and OpenStack environments.
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Cloud-Init.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerCLI for automation and scripting.
• Ability to troubleshoot performance and configuration issues in cloud environments.
• OpenStack or VMware certifications are a plus (COA, VCP-DCV, etc.).
