Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced NetSuite Finance & Accounting Subject Matter Expert, with a strong focus on revenue recognition, to join our enterprise technology team. This role will serve as a key liaison between Technology and the client's CFO organization, including Finance, Accounting, Revenue Operations, and related business teams.

The successful candidate will provide functional leadership and hands on support for Oracle NetSuite ERP, with primary responsibility for revenue recognition processes, financial operations, production support, process improvement, and solution delivery. This individual will work closely with finance leaders, accountants, NetSuite developers, solution architects, integration teams, and other enterprise application teams to identify business needs, resolve system and data issues, and deliver scalable NetSuite solutions.

This role requires a combination of deep finance and accounting knowledge, extensive NetSuite experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both executive stakeholders and technical delivery teams.

 
*This position is located at our client site in Alexandria, VA in a hybrid setting.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Serve as the NetSuite functional SME for revenue recognition processes and related financial workflows.
. Support the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of NetSuite revenue recognition capabilities, including Advanced Revenue Management, revenue arrangements, revenue elements, revenue plans, allocation rules, and deferred revenue.
. Partner with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to support revenue recognition requirements aligned with organizational accounting policies and applicable standards, including ASC 606.
. Investigate and resolve revenue related system, configuration, transaction, and data issues.
. Review exceptions and discrepancies involving invoices, sales orders, credit memos, refunds, subscriptions, contracts, and revenue schedules.
. Work directly with Controller, Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Operations stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into system requirements.
. Lead requirements gathering sessions and document business processes, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, process flows, and user stories.
. Evaluate requested changes and recommend solutions using standard NetSuite functionality before considering customization.
. Partner with NetSuite developers and architects to design scalable configurations, customizations, scripts, workflows, integrations, and reports.
. Review technical designs to confirm alignment with financial, accounting, audit, and business requirements.
. Participate in solution estimation, prioritization, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release planning.
. Coordinate cross functional dependencies involving e commerce, CRM, payment platforms, billing systems, data platforms, tax systems, and banking applications.
. Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and post production validation.
. Help define test scenarios and expected accounting outcomes for financial and revenue related changes.
. Analyze financial and operational data to identify discrepancies, root causes, trends, and control weaknesses.
. Support data conversions, data validation, reconciliation, and remediation activities.
. Maintain documentation for NetSuite configurations, revenue processes, financial workflows, system controls, and operating procedures.
. Identify opportunities to reduce manual processing and improve the accuracy, timeliness, and scalability of financial operations.
. Ensure solutions are designed with appropriate consideration for financial controls, compliance, security, and operational support.
. Build strong working relationships with Finance, Accounting, Technology, Operations, and executive stakeholders.
. Communicate system issues, business impacts, risks, dependencies, and remediation plans clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
. Facilitate meetings, drive decisions, document action items, and coordinate follow up activities across multiple teams.
. Provide functional guidance and mentoring to NetSuite analysts, developers, testers, and business users.
. Develop user documentation, process guides, knowledge articles, and training materials.
. Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions for Finance and Accounting users.
. Act as a trusted advisor by recommending NetSuite capabilities, process improvements, and industry leading practices.

 

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. Eight or more years of hands on Oracle NetSuite experience supporting Finance and Accounting teams in complex organizations.
. Significant experience with NetSuite financial management functionality and end to end accounting processes.
. Demonstrated expertise in revenue recognition, deferred revenue, revenue schedules, revenue allocation, and related accounting processes.
. Hands on experience with NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management, including revenue arrangements, elements, plans, rules, and exception management.
. Strong knowledge of order to cash, record to report, billing, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial close processes.
. Experience investigating and resolving complex production, transaction, configuration, and data issues in NetSuite.
. Experience creating and maintaining saved searches, SuiteAnalytics workbooks, dashboards, reports, CSV imports, and financial reporting solutions.
. Experience gathering requirements and translating Finance and Accounting needs into functional and technical specifications.
. Experience supporting NetSuite configurations, workflows, custom records, forms, roles, permissions, and approval processes.
. Experience coordinating testing activities, including functional testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and production validation.
. Ability to analyze financial transactions and understand their impact on subledgers, revenue schedules, and the general ledger.
. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with CFO level stakeholders.
. Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills.
. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across business, functional, and technical teams.

 
Preferred

. Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
. CPA, CMA, or other accounting related certification.
. NetSuite certifications, such as:
. NetSuite Certified ERP Consultant
. NetSuite Certified Administrator
. NetSuite SuiteFoundation Certification
. Experience supporting subscription, membership, e commerce, professional services, association, nonprofit, or recurring revenue business models.
. Experience with multi subsidiary, multi currency, intercompany, and consolidated financial operations.
. Experience with NetSuite OneWorld.
. Experience working in Agile or Scrum delivery environments using tools such as Jira, DevOps, or ServiceNow.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $107,500.00 - $238,100.00.
