Position Description:

Location: Open to anywhere in Canada within proximity to CGI office to accommodate a hybrid work model

We are seeking a Microsoft Purview Specialist to join our team and support clients in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise data governance, compliance, and information protection solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

This role focuses on helping organizations secure, classify, govern, and protect their data across Microsoft 365 while ensuring regulatory compliance and reducing organizational risk. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering end-to-end Purview solutions and driving data governance strategies across complex enterprise environments.

 

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Assess client environments to identify data governance, compliance, and information protection requirements within Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Purview.
Design and implement Microsoft Purview solutions, including:
-Data classification and sensitivity labeling
-Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
-Data lifecycle management (retention and records management)
-Insider Risk Management
-eDiscovery and audit capabilities

Develop and implement data governance frameworks aligned with regulatory and organizational policies.
Configure and manage the Microsoft Purview compliance portal, including:
-Information protection policies
-Regulatory compliance controls
-Data visibility and reporting'
Collaborate with security, legal, and compliance teams to align Purview solutions with enterprise risk and compliance objectives.
Provide expert guidance on data protection, privacy, and governance best practices.
Support incident investigations, audits, and compliance reporting using Microsoft Purview tools.
Define and implement data lifecycle policies, including retention, archiving, and deletion strategies.
Deliver workshops and training sessions on:
-Data governance
-Compliance
-Information protection
-Microsoft Purview capabilities
-Create and maintain:
-Operational documentation
-Governance frameworks
-Data classification standards
-Process documentation and runbooks
Contribute to:
-Statements of Work (SOWs)
-Client compliance roadmaps
-Security and governance strategies
-Support the continuous improvement of data protection and compliance posture across client environments.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

5–8 years total experience, with
2–4 years specifically in Microsoft Purview / M365 compliance tools

Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, including:
-Sensitivity labels and information protection
-Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
-Retention policies and records management
-Insider Risk Management
-eDiscovery and audit
Experience with:
-Microsoft 365 compliance and governance
-Entra ID (identity, access management, RBAC)
-Security and compliance frameworks
Solid understanding of:
-Data governance principles
-Privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA)
-Risk and compliance management
-Experience integrating Purview with:
Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
Security tools (Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel)
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience delivering governance and compliance strategies within enterprise environments
Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and or Equivalent work experience

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000 -$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy
