Position Description:

With over 36 years in the industry, CGI Space is a rapidly growing business with exciting projects and prospects across the Navigation, Earth Observation, Satcoms and Spacecraft Operations domains. We currently have around 500 members working on projects in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. We are seeking to expand our team of professionals with opportunities at a variety of levels to service our clients' needs and to explore and implement new business opportunities in Space.
We are looking for a Hardware Integration Engineer to join us in Leatherhead, Surrey to work on Space projects for a variety of major clients including European Space Agency, Inmarsat, ECMWF, Eumetsat and Airbus. This will include working on the prestigious European Galileo Navigation programme. CGI is developing bespoke software, procuring hardware (specialist cryptographic equipment and COTS equipment) and assembling the systems in racks at our Leatherhead site in the UK. The racks are then deployed to several sites within the EU for operational use.

For the role of Hardware Integration Engineer, you must have the folllowing:
Essential:
• Experience of system hardware specification and design
• Engineering drawing sets (BS8888/BS308 or DEF STAN 05-10)
• Racking diagrams
• Wiring/connection schedules
• Network design/implementation
• Appreciation of and hands-on experience of the hardware (servers, switches, firewalls, etc.)
• Familiarity with COTS hardware including servers, workstations and infrastructure components such as firewall and switches
• Familiarity with equipment rack wiring practices
• Working knowledge of European electrical safety and EMC regulations including ‘Safety in Design’ (EN60950)
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact well with colleagues and client staff

Desirable Skills:
• Experience of hardware fault diagnosis and maintenance
• Understanding of system security issues
• Working knowledge of OS level Windows (server and workstation)
• TEMPEST protection principles
• Experience of hardware shipment and export practices
• Familiarity with asset management processes
• Space project experience, especially for the European Space Agency
• MOD project experience
This role is based in Leatherhead and will require full time attendance at our Leatherhead offices.
This role includes the opportunity for some occasional international travel to client sites, especially within Europe.
Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level, so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it.
