Director of Consulting Services – Public Sector
Halifax, CANADA
Job description
Position Description:
CGI is one of the world's largest independent IT and business consulting firms, combining global reach with deep local ownership. In Atlantic Canada, our leaders don't just manage portfolios—they build them.
We're looking for a Director, Consulting Services to join our Halifax-based leadership team. This is a client-facing, growth-oriented leadership role for a proven practitioner who earns trust in the room, expands naturally from within client environments, and is ready to scale that instinct into a broader business.
This role sits at the intersection of client leadership, business development, and delivery excellence. You will lead a team of consultants while owning and growing a portfolio of public sector clients—developing opportunities, shaping solutions, and ensuring high-quality delivery across systems integration and IT services engagements.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Build and Expand Client Partnerships
. Develop trusted relationships with public sector leaders and stakeholders
. Understand client priorities and shape practical, outcome-focused solutions
. Act as a strategic advisor on modernization, transformation, and delivery challenges
. Leverage existing relationships to expand CGI's presence organically
Drive Business Growth (Land and Expand)
. Identify, shape, and close new opportunities within your portfolio
. Introduce additional CGI capabilities where they add value
. Develop and execute Client Development Plans tied to measurable growth
. Lead and support proposals—from strategy to negotiation and close
Lead with Delivery Excellence
. Ensure high-quality delivery across IT and systems integration engagements
. Maintain strong governance and client satisfaction
. Step into engagements when needed — credibility comes from experience
. Partner with delivery teams to ensure alignment with client expectations
Lead and Grow Your Team
. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of ~15 consultants
. Build consulting capability aligned to client needs and market demand
. Support recruitment, performance management, and career development
Own and Scale the Business
. Accountable for revenue, growth, and profitability
. Contribute to regional strategy and expansion across Atlantic Canada
. Stay current on public sector priorities, digital trends, and emerging technologies
What Makes This Role Different
. A True Builder Role – You grow your business, not just manage it
. Practitioner-Led Leadership – Credibility comes from delivery experience
. Real Client Proximity – You stay close to clients and outcomes
. Local Ownership, Global Scale – Autonomy backed by CGI's capabilities
. Regional Impact – Direct influence on CGI's growth in Atlantic Canada
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. 10+ years in consulting, systems integration, or IT services
. Experience leading client engagements and contributing to complex delivery
. Demonstrated ability to grow accounts and expand work from within
. Strong relationship-building skills with public sector experience (preferred)
. Experience with proposals, solutioning, and sales cycles
. Leadership capability with a desire to build and grow a team
. Strong commercial mindset and accountability for outcomes
. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
