Position Description:

CGI Federal is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Accessibility Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in providing policy and guidance support for Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance. This role involves designing test cases and plans, serving as an SME on accessibility tools and techniques, and ensuring that digital content and applications are accessible to all users.
This position is located in our Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Provide policy and guidance support for Section 508 and WCAG compliance to ensure digital accessibility.
Design and develop comprehensive test cases and plans to evaluate accessibility compliance of digital content and applications.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on accessibility tools and techniques, advising teams on best practices and solutions.
Collaborate with design and development teams to integrate accessibility considerations into the project lifecycle.
Conduct accessibility assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on accessibility requirements and best practices.
Stay updated with the latest accessibility standards, tools, and techniques to provide relevant and effective guidance.
Ensure that all digital content and applications are accessible to users with disabilities, enhancing the overall user experience.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
Extensive experience in accessibility compliance, including Section 508 and WCAG.
Strong expertise in designing test cases and plans for accessibility evaluation.
Proficiency in using accessibility tools and techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
Relevant certifications in accessibility (e.g., Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)).
Experience conducting accessibility assessments and audits.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and project management principles.
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $195,200.00.
