Mission of the position

The Quality Team Leader is responsible for the Quality Inspection Team, the inspection plan, processing audits, conducting FAI’s/FII’s, monitoring and recording team KPIs, writing documentation and coordinating activities to ensure that the quality of final-parts, products and sub-assemblies is up to the highest standard. This means ensuring the team is running smoothly; ensuring the health and safety, quality-controlled processes and ensuring targets are achieved on time whilst motivating and developing your team.
The Quality Team Leader is responsible for the organisation, coordination, and delivery of all internal inspection processes.

Functions and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leader Responsibilities
* Lead team briefings to ensure effective communication and compliance with safety, quality, and productivity goals.
* Make certain that the order of tasks and allocation of resources creates maximum efficiency.
* Ensure all staff have a clear understanding and comply with the rules, regulations, standards and policies in place.
* Monitor and report on team performance, escalate constraints, and suggest improvements for successful inspections, including hours and process gaps.
* Plan and schedule inspection activities, taking ownership of inspection capacity management in line with the projects and dispatch plan. Working closely with the team leaders.
* Liaise with your line manager to ensure resource levels are in place to achieve planned activities.
* Ensure timely delivery of inspections in accordance with the inspection plan, handovers and despatch schedule and quality standards. Organise and communicate job expectations to team.
* Ensure all work carried out is compliant with organisational quality management systems/polies and procedures.
* Ensure area of work is clean, well-organised and safe; and adheres to Company housekeepingEnsure staff training, job allocation, and shift planning are carried out effectively.


Training required

Carry out training / act as coach and mentor to enable better performance and development of skills within team and others.Be fully familiar and conservation with department and Company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and action undertaken are always fully compliant.Participate in the induction and on-going training of employees.Assist with ongoing training of quality technicians and inspectors. Ensure equipment is maintained and fully operational. Assist manufacturing with analysis and problem solving as required. Conduct analysis to produce indicators, statistics, and presentations.  Work to promote quality culture throughout the company.  Support internal/supplier/customer special process audits.  Act as a liaison between departments to facilitate timely resolution of any inspection issues.  Ensure the correct use and operation of machinery and equipment and ensure that all routine daily maintenance and safety checks are carried out on time.  Support the rest of the quality team and assists management for various related duties as required.  Support quality, productivity, and process improvement.  initiatives.  Pro-actively seek out process improvements and efficiency savings, recommending to line manager where improvements can be made, or costs reduced.  Support activities to maintain high standards of cleanliness, finish, and presentation, ensuring all vehicles meet CAF’s quality expectations prior to delivery.

Inspection Quality Responsibilities

Work in close collaboration with the test, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify and resolve issues and to ensure seamless handovers and FEI readiness between all departments.  Monitor and manage additional requirements such as modifications and SRDs to ensure inspections and documentation is complete for handover and factory exit.  Manage quality projects to meet specific requirements and satisfy customers.  Support projects by facilitating adequate communication with all stakeholders.  Liaise with your manager, Project Quality and Quality Engineers in preparation for Handover and FEI.

Required professional experience

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 Qualifications
Qualification in a Technical or Quality discipline
IPC WHMA620 Requirements and acceptance for cable and wire harness assemblies.
ISO9001 Auditor qualification 
ILM or equivalent qualification in management and leadership
6 sigma green belt. 
Train the trainer
Has experience with problem solving tools (8D, CAPA, SCRA, 5-why) 
Experience of internal and external audits
Working knowledge of CAF special processes (welding, painting, bonding, torque tightening, electrical crimping, riveting)
Experience with FAI (First Article Inspection) and FII (First Installation Inspection)
Technical and/or practical knowledge valued
