What you'll do


As the Sustainability Manager - Scope 3 at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in implementing and overseeing the Scope 3 data strategy to measure and report progress against the company's commitments. Working within the Group Climate Team, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to influence and drive the environmental sustainability agenda forward. Your responsibilities will include establishing clear data requirements and governance principles for Scope 3 measurement, leading external partnerships, supporting junior team members in preparing Scope 3 metrics for reporting, and developing responsible sourcing policies. Additionally, you will work cross-functionally to develop clear communication strategies for environmental product messaging and engage with external stakeholders on sustainability topics, all while maintaining alignment with Sainsbury's values and driving impactful sustainability programmes through effective decision-making and budget management.

Who you are


As a Sustainability Manager specialising in Scope 3 reporting for Sainsbury's, you are a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in environmental sustainability, particularly within the food sector. Your expertise in manipulating complex sustainability datasets, collaborating with industry organisations, and managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders enables you to drive forward our sustainability agenda and ensure transparent reporting on our Scope 3 commitments. With your critical thinking, excellent communication skills, and ability to anticipate risks and implications, you play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing sustainability strategies that align with good environmental, social, and governance principles.

Please note this is a 12 months Fixed Term opportunity.
