Team & Challenges:
The Central Test Engineering team is responsible for the end-to-end integration and regression testing of systems across Sainsbury’s. This includes front end customer facing channels, order management, warehousing and store support systems - all to ensure great new features and services get delivered to our customers and colleagues flawlessly.

About the role:
You’ll be involved in exciting and challenging work building robust, scalable, and high–quality test automation solutions for both functional and regression testing.
Working with various teams across multiple platforms to build automation against exciting new features and services onto Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing digital channels.
Leading the development of automated frameworks within the team to improve the speed and quality of software development by checking for scalability, reliability, consistency, and performance.
Championing clean code and practices that make change easy, including peer reviewing your colleague’s code.
Extending automation to include service provisioning, test data management, dashboarding and business process validation.
Building, customising, deploying, and managing the test automation frameworks. Leading the maintenance of our automation backlog - analyse, plan and estimate automation requirements.
Building efficient, practical and scalable automated solutions across multiple areas of our systems estate, including front end customer channels, services, middleware systems, and APIs.
Seeking to build automated solutions for reviewing logs and databases as part of the testing process.
What we’re looking for:
Has a broad knowledge and understanding of IT concepts and architectures
Strong coding background with practical application of multiple languages / technologies.
Ability to decompose complex processes into understandable components.
Ability to lead, mentor and train, more junior colleagues providing direction on automation approaches.
Ability to communicate effectively and liaise on a technical level with Analysts, Product Managers and Engineers to gain required knowledge for the design and creation of appropriate assets and solutions. Being open to learn new tools and platforms
