What you'll do
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Network Operations Engineer to join our Network Operations Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance across all systems. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and other departments. The Network Operator will work closely with two other team members to ensure the daily operations of the network infrastructure are running smoothly and efficiently
Who you are
As a Senior Engineer at Sainsbury's, you are a highly skilled and experienced professional in the field of engineering and technology. With a deep understanding of the retail business and the ever-evolving technology landscape, you have the expertise to design and implement high-quality solutions that drive value and align with Sainsbury's Group strategy. Your technical competence extends to areas such as software development, data pipelines, infrastructure, or network connectivity, depending on your specialisation. You possess a strong foundation in agile engineering practises and have a proven track record of leading and motivating engineering teams. With a results-oriented mindset and a focus on evidence-based decision-making, you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you can make meaningful contributions to the success of Sainsbury's Tech.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
- Proven experience in network operations, administration or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, hardware and software
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Relevant certifications (e.g CCNA, CCNP)
Preferred Skills
- Experience using common observability tools for network and application monitoring
- Understanding of cloud networking and virtualisation technologies as well as working in complex hybrid environments
- Knowledge of network security best practices and tools
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools
- Background working on 2nd and 3rd line technical issues
