Why join us

At Sainsbury’s we are all proud retailers. We are committed to making good food joyful, accessible and affordable for everyone, every day.

When you join the team, you will have the opportunity to deliver powerful messages that bring our retail strategy to life and make Sainsbury’s feel like a great place to do great work. Your communications will drive change, create momentum and build even closer connectivity to our purpose and champion good food.

You will also join a business that is focused on empowering managers to lead their teams to deliver exceptional customer service through inspiring leadership.

What you'll do

As one of two Senior Internal Communications Managers, making up a team of four, delivering retail and change communications at Sainsbury's, you will be working with our retail leadership team and a wide range of stakeholders to bring to life new propositions - offerings and services, operational change and organisational change.

You will forge deep, trusted relationships with key stakeholders and lead the development of leadership communications, bring our stories to life through powerful narrative development and be responsible for the development and delivery of integrated communications plans.

Campaigns are varied, can be fast paced, high profile and need to reach sometimes hard to reach audiences.

And within our high performing internal communications team, you will play a leading role in ensuring we collectively deliver messages that meet the expectations of leaders and colleagues.

This role has the perfect mix of autonomy, collaboration and leadership.

Who you are

A collaborative senior internal communications manager with an agency mindset and experience in fast paced, large scale, consumer facing businesses, who intuitively knows when to work with key stakeholders and contacts.

Your exceptional stakeholder engagement skills mean you can get to the nub of subject quickly and recognise what is needed and who you need to work with to get the results needed.

Your passion for narrative development and story-telling shines through in campaign design that supports leaders to talk to teams in a way that feels energising, coherent and relatable – whether they are in our stores or a logistics centre.

You also have an integrated view of communications, and naturally work in partnership with other internal communications specialists, as well as external communication colleagues where necessary, to develop messaging that builds and protects our reputation internally and externally.

We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer, so you’ll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there’s always the chance to try something new - whether that’s as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we’ll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them:

Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to get 10% off at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat after 4 weeks. This increases to 15% off at Sainsbury’s every Friday and Saturday and 15% off at Argos every pay day. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 20% of salary, depending on how we perform.

Your wellbeing is important to us too. You'll receive an annual holiday allowance, and you can buy additional holiday. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, interest free car loan of up to £10k, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, pay advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an Employee Assistance Programme, you will also be eligible for private healthcare too.

Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave.

Please see www.sainsburys.jobs for a range of our benefits (note, length of service and eligibility criteria may apply).

Make every future a success.
