Job description
As a Senior Engineer (Full Stack - .Net), you’ll be part of one of our Engineering teams, applying architectural and engineering principles to define and deliver technology that will better customer experiences, improve efficiency and reduce business costs, helping us to lower prices. You’ll support your team by enabling performance, compliance and risk management by sharing your expertise, judgement and passion for delivering quality products for customers.
In the role, you’ll own the design and development of large-scale services with high performance using technologies such as the latest Microsoft .Net, React JS, Next.js, Microsoft SQL Server or MongoDB, Kubernetes & Docker - building and implementing into the platform. This includes embracing serverless functions and an event driven development.
We use a variety of tech here and you need to be willing to pick up new tools and techniques. We’d also like you to be yourself – analytical, curious and unafraid to challenge the status quo. You’ll be a role model for best practices, championing a customer centric mindset with a passion for finding creative ways to solve problems, mentoring fellow engineers as a progressive member of the engineering community.
More about the role
- You will own the design, build and support of large-scale high performant services using technologies such as the latest Microsoft .Net, React JS, Next.js, SQL or MongoDB together with containerised environments using Kubernetes & Docker.
- The in-house coding may include building products with user interfaces, so some experience of front-end development is necessary.
- This also includes the use of serverless functions and event driven s using Kafka to enable near real time data transfers.
- You will also lead the implementation of technologies in making use of build and release pipelines, function apps, and hosted databases.
- It will be up to you to drive the product technical roadmap through a deep understanding of technology and broader understanding of roadmaps across corporate divisions.
- You will lead the design and support of services and internal frameworks that enhance Sainsbury’s capabilities.
- You will lead, guide, support and enable performance within a team (sized 6-8 including 3rd party developers) by providing technical knowledge, coaching and best practice ideas.
- We will look to you to contribute to optimising our OPEX and CAPEX spend by controlling costs and implementing cost efficiencies in software build and support.
More about you
- Possess programming language expertise in Microsoft .Net C#, ReactJs, Next.js Type Script, relational and non-relational database technologies with a deep knowledge of implementations to include both front end and backend development.
- Deep expertise in engineering practice, including engineering designs, patterns and anti-patterns and current architectural best practices.
- Proven experience of software design and implementation to include security, infrastructure as code, together with builds and the components needed to support such designs.
- Fully aware of the infrastructure possibilities of the environment. Experience with Azure and AWS coulds
- Self-driven and constantly striving to improve your team, division and peers
- A drive for the advocacy of /lean delivery methodologies.
- A passion for delivering solutions to customers, owning the whole Software Delivery Life Cycle and living the DevSecOps principles.
- A passion for enhancing your knowledge and evidencing curiosity in emerging technologies.
