What is the role about?
Based in Holborn, London at the Sainsbury’s Support Centre and at home, an exciting opportunity for an Insight Consultant has become available to join the fun, energetic & collaborative Data & Insight team, part of the Nectar360 FMCG team. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of insight consultancy projects to clients and assisting with building the project pipeline by generating consultancy opportunities in order to hit the overall team target.

Responsibilities:
Manage supplier relationships by developing key account strategies
- Identify consultancy opportunities in key accounts through:
- Primary ownership of Insights relationships with strategic/development clients with the aim of building longer term relationships.
- Framing client issues/conversations and proposing suitable next steps by collaborating with internal stakeholders such as analytics and market research and overlaying the Sainsbury’s trading context to scope out necessary analysis techniques.
- Building a project pipeline and proactively uncovering opportunities and insight portfolio gaps across clients within the account group.
- Having a clear understanding of the client’s business & the category in which they operate
- Understanding the wider macro environment and how this affects Sainsbury’s & Argos and its supplier base.
- Ensuring regular contact and engagement with clients.
- Writing proposals and costing briefs for strategic/development clients.
- Leadership across cross team initiatives and category-wide opportunities such as training and knowledge shares to set an example to junior team members to drive development.
- Commercial responsibility for Data & Insights Consultancy revenue.
- Budget includes consultancy, market research and new data initiatives.
- Developing effective cross-functional relationships with the wider commercial team to develop & implement consultancy strategies that align to the overall client annual plan.
- Lead the development of the key client senior contact strategy across consultancy.
Align to Sainsbury’s priorities
- Understand and align to Sainsbury’s supplier tiering (strategic, tactical, transactional) to flex solutions.
- Understand the role of trading insights and other central functions.
- Ensuring regular contact and engagement with internal stakeholders
Manage deliveries to ensure high impact consultancy projects
- Responsible for the delivery of assigned insight consultancy projects.
- Ability to use customer data to understand category performance and shopper behaviour to build best practice consultancy with a passion and strong ability to tell stories with data.
- Independently owning end to end projects including:
- Leading delivery directly to clients alongside colleagues from other teams where applicable
- Delegating, coordinating, and supporting analysts and market research teams as required to deliver against agreed timings and budgets, working cross functionally to get what you need.
- Using appropriate processes and document templates to ensure that all parties are briefed correctly.
- Work with Media Planning and Commercial teams to add value through insight and provide solutions for clients, working closely with the analytics team when solutions require automation.
Support raising the visibility of Data & Insights within Nectar360
- Develop effective cross-functional relationships with key decision-makers within the business.
- Work closely with Media Planning and Commercial functions to ensure all Nectar360 opportunities are shared.
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proven consultative selling skills (negotiation desirable).
- Strong ability to build insights and tell stories with data.
- Experience of working in consumer insights, analytics, market research or marketing function – Retail, FMCG or consultancy background preferred.
- Strong relationship building skills with clients.
- Experience with insight practices and/or other customer data sets and tools.
- A passion for numbers and “the customer”.
- Data literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent project management skills, well organised with attention to detail.
- Able to communicate and present effectively and confidently.
- Self-motivated with an understanding of analytics and the solution development process.
- High energy, proactive and a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Understanding of financial management.
