Job description
ArcelorMittal SCA Energy is seeking a Front Office trader. This trader will be responsible for managing and optimizing some of the markets where ArcelorMittal is present for natural gas. He will have to ensure sound hedging strategies and right executions. Superior communication, project management skills to develop new perimeters and taste for energy markets and its optimization are an absolute must to be successful in this position.
ArcelorMittal energy consumption amounts ~90 TWh of natural gas and 64 TWh of Electricity worldwide, very significant volumes of air gases (02, N2, Ar) and to a lower extent Hydrogen.
The ArcelorMittal Energy team is responsible for ensuring competitive supply of these 3 products (6 to 7 bn$ per year), from markets, contracts or assets. It is within this context that, ArcelorMittal Energy SCA has been incorporated in 2011 to grant the “access to market” platform to trade the Energy in Europe – contracts and assets being managed by another dedicated team based in Paris.
In a growing team, the Front Office energy trader will directly support the Head of Front Office and be responsible for a wide array of topics among which:
- Manage and maximize the value of natural gas portfolio in different markets in Europe by trading maturities from Intraday to Calendars
- Keep close follow up of market evolution to anticipate changes and capture market opportunities based on real-time positions
- Propose and implement effective purchasing risk mitigation strategies with client/management alignment.
- Prepare & implement market purchasing strategy with business/management alignment ? Communication of real-time market information
- Manage and optimize cross-border flows (mainly in eastern countries)
- Work in cooperation with Finance & Risk for a proper follow up of transactions
- Support Front Office team On-duty requirements
- Maintain/develop brokers/traders/suppliers counterparties, ensuring that enough counterparties are available to follow AME expansion program successfully.
- Ensure proper understanding of energy policies and anticipate business development in order to enhance the value creation.
- Identify growth opportunities within each region to increase activity within the platform.
- Proficiently collects, queries, organizes and manipulates large amounts of data in Excel and accurately presents analytical results
- Manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines by prioritizing deliverables
