We are looking for a dynamic leader to join our company as the Principal Sourcer to drive strategy and execution across our Global Devices Talent Acquisition team. The Amazon Devices organization works on high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. Are you interested in supporting and growing this cutting-edge organization?
The HR function at Amazon has a four-pronged mission: “Enable Growth”, “Develop Large Leaders”, “Cultivate Culture”, and “Operate Optimally.” This leader will focus on developing and implementing a talent acquisition sourcing and candidate pipeline building strategy that supports a high growth environment and ensures that these strategies are aligned with the business objectives and Amazon's culture.
Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition for the Devices organization, this leader will be a strategic partner, actively working with the senior-most leaders across Amazon's Global Devices recruitment teams and businesses.
The Role:
Amazon Devices is looking for a Principal Sourcer to join our talent acquisition leadership team. You will have significant impact on the optimization of leveraging sourcing strategies to impact delivery/execution within the devices TA organization.
This is both a strategic and tactical hands-on role that provides challenges in project leadership as well as in the support and development of both existing and new recruiting programs and initiatives. You will influence a global team of recruitment and sourcing professionals to leverage recruiting programs, processes, systems and tools to drive functional excellence, streamline operations, and enable continual process improvement.
The ideal candidate has deep knowledge and experience in the talent pipeline and sourcing phase of the recruiting process. This role will split focus on both tactical delivery and execution (i.e. owning the sourcing on senior level reqs) as well as strategic (owning the sourcing strategy for the Devices GTA org).
Responsibilities include:
Execution / Delivery:
· Deployed to top priority software engineering teams, with a focus on senior level roles.
· Supports full stack software engineering (both fungible and niche skills such as iOS/Android, embedded software, ML/CV)
· Capable of switching focus to support various Device teams (i.e. Alexa, Device Software, FireTV, and Stealth v1 products, etc.)
· Analyzes the supply and demand of talent globally and devises sourcing strategies to maximize talent availability/suitability.
· Enhances the “sourcing culture” across Devices GTA (i.e. assists in adopting new sourcing leveling guidelines, assesses our potential need to create a “tiger team” of resources to deploy across the org for sourcing support, creates devices-wide sourcing L&D roadmap, develops talent intelligence strategy such as talent mapping and competitive intelligence, etc.)
· Assesses senior candidates; involved in every aspect of candidate assessment at that level including resume review, dive deep behavioral phone screen assessment, and onsite interviews.
· Owns and assists in execution of sourcing experiments and “think big” ideas (i.e. annual business planning and disruptive ideas) related to talent pipeline building across Devices GTA
· Understands market trends globally that can be used
· Brings industry perspective and strong business judgment to influence executive leadership to determine and drive objectives.
· Serves as a Talent Acquisition evangelist helping to position Amazon's Global recruiting brand at the forefront of the relevant industries. Act as a Talent Magnet in the industry for Amazon.
· Demonstrates deep understanding of the dynamics for their client groups. Articulates the clients' team vision, footprint, and how it fits within Amazon as a whole.
· Recognized as having functional credibility and leadership presence across Amazon and in the external industry.
· Possesses deep understanding of candidate generation metrics, leading guided research strategies. Systematically maps and educates wider team and clients on the talent profile in the market based on data available in and outside of Amazon
Strategic Advisor:
· Aggregates and shares best practices among the Sourcing Recruiters and leads advanced sourcing techniques training
· Attends external sourcing conferences (ideally as a speaker) to learn and share the latest sourcing tips/tricks and conducts “Teach-back” sessions among the Devices Sourcing community
· Actively reviews latest sourcing tools (i.e. Arya, Hiretual) and advises on which to adopt across devices, and serves as the trainer and SME for these tools among the broader sourcing community
· Participates on various sourcing taskforces across devices and/or central teams as a SME
· Possesses ability to see across multiple businesses and functions and anticipate and coach on cascading effects to clients. For example, if a business wants to open a development center, knowing and explaining effects on HR, finance, etc.
· Partners with the business during workforce planning and provides a 12 month+ hiring strategy that leverages the best regions, networks, and companies that optimize candidate profiles with business goals.
· Systematically measures candidate experience at the candidate generation level to drive Devices GTA-wide improvements.
· Demonstrates the ability to scale across GTA and HR, driving new creative strategies across Amazon. Takes a strategic role in recruitment process driving teams and organizations to approach recruiting from a global perspective.
· Lead, coach and mentor sourcing team members on advanced search features, innovative best practices, and enterprise sourcing integration; is an active speaker on sourcing conferences, recognized by wider sourcing community outside of Amazon
Focus and Deliverables for the first 12 Months
· Develop a sourcing strategy across Amazon Devices (including creation of a prioritization mapping tool to help shape where to focus talent pipeline building needs)
· Leverage the sourcing strategy and prioritization inputs (i.e. business demand by team, software gap to goal by major niche job family) to determine where to focus sourcing efforts (including sourcing ownership)
· Create a more robust sourcing community within the Devices org (i.e. partner with the L&D Program Manager on enhanced training, as well as leading teach back sessions on advanced sourcing skills)
· Share best practices within the broader Devices sourcing community as well as from other lines of business (i.e. AWS, Business Development / Adverting, Consumer, etc.)
· Partner with the Recruiting Managers, Recruiters and Branding Program Manager to refine the Devices candidate value proposition (the “pitch”) for the broader org as well as individual teams (including new stealth projects)
· As part of a broader taskforce, assist in the development and roll-out of new Amazon-wide Sourcing leveling guidelines (to help shape career development across the Sourcing community)
Desired profile
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in Business, HR Management, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience
· At least 5+ years of sourcing and talent pipeline building expertise and/or full life cycle Recruiting with heavy emphasis on front-end candidate development)
· Extensive knowledge of the talent pipeline (early candidate development phase) including sourcing tools, talent mapping, employer value proposition / messaging, and sourcing techniques
