You'll be responsible for

·  Leading the preparation of tax effect accounting. This includes sourcing of appropriate inputs, preparing necessary schedules call mom identifying and adjusting for tax and accounting differences, performing calculations, recording in general ledger in an accurate and timely manner, and alignment with the Tax team on tax return treatment.
·  Preparing financial statement note disclosures, local and group reporting, commentary, and supporting external audit process relating to tax effect accounting.
·  Advising on and responding to queries and requests relating to the accounting treatment, data and reporting of tax effect accounting so that the impact to financial performance, financial position and capital adequacy are understood by stakeholders.
·  Proactively monitoring and understanding changes to business operations accounting and tax treatments to determine tax effect accounting impacts. Communicate and work collaboratively with stakeholders on consequential impacts (if any).
·  Delivering continuous improvement of the delivery process and product. This includes but not limited to process/control improvement initiatives, automation, changes to service levels and catalogues, system enhancements, and service providers.
·  Supporting broader Finance activities that contribute to the Division achieving its goals and objectives.

 

About you

·  Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with relevant certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), or equivalent.
·  Experience in the preparation or review of tax effect accounting and the application of accounting standards for an insurer.
·  Experience in application of multiple accounting/tax basis in a group/multinational environment.
·  Knowledgeable in Australian taxation, ASIC and APRA reporting requirements.
·  Experience in using tax calculation and reporting software.
