Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Leeds Commercial Branch. We’re looking for an experienced Property & Casualty Senior Underwriter to join our growing, fast paced and already successful team in Leeds. You will be focusing on servicing our Existing renewal book and will play an active role in developing the branch account in terms of growth and profitability through negotiating, securing and retaining profitable business. All roles will support business targets in relation to the servicing of Broker and Client accounts, and queries, ensuring you support and underwrite within your authority.
On a daily basis, you will ensure Customer Satisfaction by building rapport and providing excellent service to both internal and external customers, and in the long term, ensure retention of our clients.
You will:
· Handle general Customers' queries via the telephone and in writing within agreed service standards.
· Underwrite Existing cases and process mid-term adjustments including analysis and compiling data for authority referrals.
· Handling large complex renewals
· Handle internal Claims and Account queries.
· Negotiate within authority and refer where appropriate to maximise customer retention including persuading, influencing and convincing customers of the benefits of an opposed course of action.
· Anticipate likely objections and build effective responses.
Job duties:
Building strong relationships with brokers, negotiating effectively, and providing excellent customer service at all times.
Working as part of a close-knit team to offer renewal terms before deadlines
Thorough checking and issuing of renewal documents to clients
Learning about different areas of the business from industry-leading Underwriters
Support the wider teams by being proactive, enthusiastic and by challenging yourself to go out of your comfort zone.
Provide suggestions to continuously improve the business in an ever-changing environment
About You
You will need to demonstrate:
· Experience in underwriting both Property and Casualty insurance.
· Proven ability in building and maintaining broker relationships
· Proven experience in handling large cases
· Experience in coaching and developing other members of the team and taking referrals
· Strong analytical capability, attention to detail and technical competence
· Able to organise own workload and meet tight deadlines and support the team and branch in delivering excellent service levels
· A good team player. Supportive to others with an enthusiastic and positive attitude
· Passion about your development
· Taking initiative and being proactive within a team
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Good decision-making skills
· Existing CII qualification or a commitment to progressing towards CII qualifications is necessary for working within this technical team
