What you do

Allianz Partners are proudly to share that we are seeking a  Senior Corporate Counsel  to join our team in Brisbane. The role will report to the Head of Legal & Company Secretary, you’ll be providing expert commercial and general insurance financial services legal advice across the business to support a variety of internal and external stakeholders and departments. 

 

You will:

·  Lead the general insurance financial services legal practice group of Allianz Partners Australia
·  Build successful and effective relationships within Allianz Partners’ Australian business as well as with Allianz Partners’ global office colleagues and the Underwriting Agency
·  Support Allianz Partners global office with localising global arrangements that support the Australian business and regulatory environment
·  Support the execution of our corporate strategy by assisting with the expansion of our business into new markets including the development of new products and platforms
·  Identify and advise on the management of legal risk in relation to sales, marketing, distribution, product development, claims and dispute resolution
·  Draft and review financial services distribution agreements and a variety of corporate and commercial documentation
·  Provide support and guidance to the Senior Leadership Team with respect to financial services issues

 

What you will bring

·  Identifying and advising on the management of legal risk in relation to the sales, marketing, distribution, product development of retail financial services products
·  Providing legal support with respect to product development & implementation as well as underwriting agency management
·  Providing legal support in the on-boarding of new partners, including drafting distribution agreements
·  Supporting the business in responding to sales tenders
·  Providing clear and succinct written and oral advice that is aligned with the strategic objectives of Allianz Partners
·  Providing training on legal issues that are pertinent to the business
·  Building successful and effective relationships within the Australian and global businesses as well as with the underwriting agency.
·  Drafting and reviewing financial services distribution agreements and a variety of corporate and commercial documentation
·  Providing legal support with respect to regulatory change initiatives
·  Assisting the Head of Legal & Company Secretary with corporate governance matters as required
·  Display strong leadership with the ability to work with senior leaders across the business locally and globally
·  Supporting the general insurance financial services legal practice group to enable timely, efficient and innovative solutions to the Allianz Partners business
·  Managing team performance to ensure KPI achievement and maintenance of professional standards
·  Adhere to the risk management and compliance obligations and comply with policies, processes and training requirements.

 

You’ll be someone with:

·  Circa 10 years PQE or operating at Senior Associate level
·  Strong Financial Services background including regulated retail financial services or insurance experience
·  Strong proven experience with commercial contracting and financial services compliance matters
·  Strong people and business leadership skills and experience
·  Past experience dealing with regulatory reform and regulators
·  Excellent communication and engagement skills at all stakeholder levels
·  Demonstrated ability to work under pressure including the ability to achieve outcomes, prioritise work, meet deadlines, motivate staff and retain personal motivation and tolerance
·  Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business
·  Proven written and verbal communication skills
