Role Description

 

As a Risk Selection Manager, you will lead and implement strategies to ensure the profitability and compliance of AZ Broker within the UK motor insurance market.

 

Salary Information

 

Pay: Circa £70,000 per year.

 

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

 

About You

 

Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:

 

  • Work with Portfolio manager and establish a statistically robust actual versus expected claims monitoring process for large  broker portfolios.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders within AZP.
  • Conduct “deep dives” into areas of limited exposure and recommend adjustments based on data and expert judgment.
  • Recommend changes and overlays to technical cost models owned by the Pricing Technical Excellence team based on analysis and insight.
  • Ensure the broker portfolios are actively traded, accurately priced, and aligned with competitive market standards.
  • Be accountable for the quality of the output from your team, ensuring all recommendations are based on accurate data and insight.
  • Ensure proposals are internally debated/challenged to achieve a technical excellent standard, leading to informed business decisions and presenting a range of scenarios where appropriate.
  • Work extensively within WTW Radar to predict outcomes of various pricing and underwriting options and be able to confidently provide a recommendation to key stakeholders.

 

Essential Skills

 

We don't expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:

 

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, actuarial science, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certifications (e.g. FIA, ACII) might be preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and cost analysis, with an understanding of statistical models and their application in pricing.
  • Experience working successfully with the external Broker marketplace.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical modelling tools (e.g. SQL, Python, WTW Radar).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and present findings.
  • Business Acumen: Familiarity with UK insurance markets and insurance regulations, with the ability to identify market trends and opportunities.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record in driving financial performance and ensuring compliance with regulations, and ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Resilience – able to accept challenge and debate to decisions / recommendations with senior stakeholders.
