JOB PURPOSE/ROLE
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working for the AWP Global Operations (“Ops”) Transformation team, your main responsibilities will be:
I. Enable the execution of the AWP Ops Transformation program through creating transparency and facilitating decision making
II. Overseeing the governance and controlling of the entire AWP Ops portfolio of high profile projects throughout the project lifecycle - from project planning (use case and business case development, milestone and end product planning, resource planning, benefits, etc.), ramp-up and execution, through to project closure
III. Foster a project execution culture focused on decision making by providing leadership and expertise to the Ops organization on program and project management standards, project execution and governance
IV. Enhance the ability of the Ops organization to plan and execute the transformation of the organization
V. Build, lead and develop a portfolio management team
VI. Establish and oversee a program planning process that will support management in prioritizing initiatives to balance supply and demand
VII. Enhance AWP’s ability to manage execution risk by establishing the correct controls
VIII. Act as a key driver in the globalization and regionalization of AWP through its initiative portfolio
As head of the transformation office you will gain a solid experience in an international and multicultural environment and large scale program steering & monitoring. The AWP Operations Transformation program is a 3-year program designed to achieve AWPs 2020 vision. Following the establishment of a new management structure in 2016, it will fundamentally change AWP’s operating model across all its functions through harmonization and digitalization.
Portfolio governance
Define governance and execution standards
Design, implement and run governance process, incl. regular reporting cycles, execution reviews, escalation procedures
Prepare decision oriented program reports for execution reviews at various levels (e.g., lines of business, Ops overall), including investment budgets, resource allocation and prioritization, end-to-end delivery of agreed end products, milestones
Deliver and improve Group reporting (Allianz, AWP) on program and project portfolio progress
Define and communicate project governance standards (reporting requirements, traffic light logic, escalation rules, change management standards)
Enforce governance, project management and execution standards with project managers
Quality assurance of project planning and reporting (process based)
Manage project change requests
Monitor and report on the progress of projects or programs and metrics to all stakeholders; continuously identify and monitor execution risks
Portfolio planning and prioritization
Coordinate portfolio planning process and support management in prioritizing initiatives to balance supply and demandCollaborate with Operations Performance management on the monitoring and reporting of relevant operational KPIs
Portfolio analytics
Analyze portfolio status (portfolio health, execution progress, overall investment spend)
Establish effective execution risk controls for projects enabling timely and appropriate risk identification, escalation, and mitigation
Identify execution risks and top management attention issues
Coordinate with project management on top management decision support, risk mitigation
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Education (MA level) preferably in the fields of CS/engineering (or other STEM subjects)
3-5 years of work experience in consulting (either management consulting, an internal strategy department or in implementation consulting) or as a project or program manager in a corporate environment
Proven experience in large program management required; project portfolio management experience a plus
Established track record of successful project delivery; proven skills in program analysis and tracking
PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus but not required
End product driven with strong analytical capabilities
Strong focus on compliance and governance, albeit with a business perspective and pragmatism
Comfortable in a changing environment, where short-notice requests are expected
Highly motivated, dynamic, self-steering
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking
Broad commercial awareness (e.g. experience in different industries)
Strong interpersonal skills, able to foster relationships with peers and other functions; ability to motivate and influence key project stakeholders and drive change
A passion for leading and developing people
Excellent diplomatic and communication skills (upward and downward management)
Previous experience of operating in an international and large organization, incl. proven cultural sensitivity to fit into a multinational setup
Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, incl. MS Project
Fluent in English. German / French as an advantage
Willingness to travel
