We are announcing an opening for the following position in our Budapest Office with home office opportunities:
Head of Finance and Accounting.
What you’ll do:
Take full responsibility for the insurer’s financial and accounting operations
Coordinate general ledger and sub-ledger accounting, cash flow, and tax processes
Supervise and manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedure, group reporting, and reconciliation, financial statements, IFRS reports, and Solvency II disclosures
Manage cash and liquidity, drive optimization of financial operations
Ensure compliance with statutory and group-level reporting requirements
Maintain a robust control environment over financial, accounting, and reporting processes.
Lead, develop, and mentor the finance team (approx. 20 people across 3 groups)
Act as a liaison with internal stakeholders (business units, top management) and external partners (auditors, regulators, banks)
Lead and deliver finance- and accounting-related projects, contribute to regional and group-level initiatives
What you bring:
University degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
Hungarian statutory accountant qualification (mérlegképes könyvelő)
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience in the insurance/reinsurance sector or in insurance auditing
At least 2–3 years of leadership experience in finance or accounting functions
Fluent English, both written and spoken
Strong analytical and communication skills, with a proactive and structured mindset
Full compliance with the legal requirements set out in the Hungarian Insurance Act (Bit.) for the role of Head of Accounting System
Basic familiarity with available AI tools such as ChatGPT
Advantages:
